Biden’s latest attempt to convince everyone he has what it takes to stay in the race will air at 6:30 PM Eastern / 3:30 PM Pacific.

More on where and how to watch here:

https://apnews.com/article/how-to-watch-biden-press-conference-a70590e7574fc9680229b6b6289f6a02

My expectation is that it will be on all the usual sources. CNN, MSNBC, etc. etc. with in depth coverage on the talking head shows later tonight.

Edit Conference is running 20+ 50+ minutes late after already being pushed back 1 hour from 5:30 to 6:30.

Not sure if that’s good news or bad news.

Here we go! 58 minutes late, but he’s on a roll talking about NATO.

Oh, snap! Reminding everyone that Article 5 has only been used once… 9/11.

Speech ran less than 10 minutes, but was a strong speech, now the questions.

Fumbles on the first answer, calling out “Vice President Trump”. :(

Ended after almost an hour with one final question on “Vice President Trump” - Biden’s answer “Listen to him.” End conference.

Overall, I’m pretty happy with how it went!

Jesus, Joe. That last statement you gave the Republicans the sound bite for the ages:

    “Listen to him.”

Fucking dumbass. Dumb dumb dumb dumb.

      “Listen to him.”

He meant “If you think I sound incoherent sometimes, you should listen to how bad he (Trump) sounds.”

I really want to see Biden as the last man standing… let the conference run 3 hours.

“C’mon, man! Ask me your questions! Ohhhh are you all getting ‘too tired’? Do you need to go home for naps?”

Media is seething rn. They wanted Biden to break down and start sobbing on stage. He basically told them they were stupid for running a major story about a minor flub this afternoon.

They are mad that Biden turned their accusations into a boring press conference about NATO and his accomplishments.

Its not a L like his interview or his debate. Its also not a W, its… questions about industrial policy and NATO.

It looks like he’s having a good day. But can it resolve issues around Biden on a bad day?

The #1 thing I was looking for is Biden’s face when someone is talking to him.

During the debate and the interview with Stephanopoulos, he had this vacant, slack jawed look like he didn’t know where he was or what was going on.

So far, he has completely avoided that. He looks active and engaged.

Its a much better performance. Can it move the needle though?

Its not us, the wonk’s of the wonk’s who need to be moved. Its Average Voter who needs to be moved. Biden needs big W’s to get back in this, not slightly smaller L’s. Also, he called Zelnzkiy Putin, and Kamela Harris with Trump, thats whats trending at the moment. Gonna be much harder to get “industrial policy regarding defensive capabilities” trending.

      Is this enough?

Not a great sign that this praise sounds like the doctor’s notes from my toddler’s last check-up.

Yep. Like when Biden ordered every federal agency back to the office

For pretty much no reason. He just thought he knew better than every agency head and apparently this was what he wanted to actually put effort behind.

It’s weird, one of the few things he really did on his own, and it never gets brought up

This is like, actually the worst answer he’s given in the conference. Like, dude, you are polling in the 30s. Don’t bring up the polling if you are trying to make your case. Whatever you do pretend the polling doesn’t exist.

    Biden: No ones saying that.

Bruh. Everyones saying that. Fuck he fumbled ENTIRELY on the final question. That went from minor win/ good to… fucking disaster in that last minute.

Yeah I had it as a slight win even with the first couple major gaffes.

It doesn’t matter that he had several good, if spoken slowly, cogent answers on Ukraine, Europe, defensive production and budget, etc…

That last question: “Talk to him” and “The campaign hasn’t started”.

        Bruh.

        BRUH

That puts more weight on the first few gaffes. Like jesus christ dude just take the fucking W and walk off the god damned stage.

Sound bytes are that first fumble, and the final fumble.

Had he just not taken that last question… this would have been a lower case w for Biden. That last question. It sunk the whole thing.

He did alright. Alright isn’t enough. He needed a homerun to unfuck this, and he hit a single. I think from here on out, Biden is a detriment to the party ticket. If he stays in, our fight becomes much harder.

I would have agreed with that analogy up until that last question. He seems to have this thing about not knowing when to quit…

Well that was fun. Every body stand up and stay standing for at least 5 minutes.

Walk around the house, go to the yard, whatever; get your heart pumping blood.

It will be time to return to our regular doom posting shortly, but in the mean time, look out for yourselves kings and queens: Its your health that matters.

I just saw a stat saying he hasn’t had a full cabinet meeting since last October? So take press conferences out of it… it’s kind of dire how low a profile Biden is maintaining.

      https://www.cnn.com/2024/07/11/politics/joe-biden-age-decline-democrats-angry/index.html

"Ahead of closed-door Cabinet meetings that Biden attends, it is customary for Cabinet officials to submit questions and key talking points that they plan to present in front of Biden ahead of time to White House aides, two sources with direct knowledge told CNN.

“The entire display is kind of an act,” one of those sources told CNN. “They would come and say, ‘Hey, the president is going to call on you about 25 minutes in, and ask this question. What are the bullet points you’ll respond with?’”

The second source, who echoed that same description, said when Biden attends Cabinet meetings, they are “not free-wheeling, and pretty well-orchestrated.” And the meetings themselves are infrequent, with one Cabinet secretary telling CNN they are uncertain of Biden’s condition because they so rarely see him.

In fact, the last full Cabinet meeting took place on October 2, 2023. Sources also said Cabinet meetings during the Obama years, which Biden attended as vice president, were not pre-scripted this way."

        Man. Like.

Putin is invading Europe. There is a genocide and a warm/ hot war in the middle east.

And this guy doesn’t go to his cabinet meetings?
