My wife is a music nerd, so I asked her this question. Her answer: Summer Nights from “Grease”. The entire song is perfect for what it is, except for the very last word. John Travolta switches to his falsetto range to sing the word “nights” in a style that reminds me of the Bee Gees, and it just doesn’t fit with all the vocals that came before it. It’s literally a sour note to end what’s otherwise a perfectly good song.

Method Man is one of Wu-Tang’s best rap songs but it starts with a lengthy and disturbing section where the various members take turns describing how they’d torture people. Method Man ends the section with arguably the worst method.

It’s pretty neat I guess and is supposed to show you how depraved Method Man’s character is supposed to be. But when you listen to it like 20 times it just gets old fast. I don’t wanna hear about rusty screwdrivers again…

Pretty much any song with a rap feature. It’s not that I don’t like rap, it’s that the feature doesn’t work well with the song most of the time.

I think a good overall example is Tove Lo - she has many features present across her albums and there are only a couple that truly “fit” the song.

There’s another part of Schaffer the Darklord’s “The Rappist” where he talks writing in pencil so you can erase it, and the burn is good but the flow with and surrounding it is only mediocre to me lol. Otherwise a phenomenal song with strong lyrics and flow throughout, it’s just that one part where, well, he needed to take his own advice ;)

Not many though, I really had to nitpick to think of these examples.

There are a few songs that I like, but then are just ruined by out-of-nowhere rapping right in the middle, yeah.

It’s not that it sounds bad, but NIN’s Hurt has that loud af riff that I have to prepare my ears for every time

Adore NiN and especially that song. Had the good fortune to see the Dissonance Tour and let me tell you hearing it sung with David Bowie was just otherworldly lol. Great video from one of the shows in on YT if you have not heard it. Seeing Trent smile like a nut while they sing it is alone is worth the click.

I wouldn’t say it ruins it, but the really obvious splice edit in the third verse of She Loves You is jarring for me every time.

The Fall Out Boy remix of Hand Crushed By A Mallet by 100 Gecs (https://spotify.link/Vtwt9T0DhDb) is absolutely fantastic, a brilliant pop punk cover right up until the end when it’s just melted into absolute fucking noise. I get it, it’s Gecs. But just let it be a good cover - please.

Looks like they did get the message with their most recent album as it’s a lot more listenable.

Saved this post, this weekend I should try my hand at making edited versions of a couple of the songs to try and remove the parts people think are shitty.

Shit I got nothing for this. I listen to a lot of music, but the weird, jarring parts that others don’t enjoy are usually written for me. When La Mala Ordina by clipping. broke down into terrible noises at the end, my wife thought something had happened to our speaker. She thought the echo had gone fucking haywire mid song. I was rocking the fuck out to the terrible noises >_>

I’m not generally anti-Donna when it comes to the Grateful Dead but there’s definitely the odd track delivered with all the grace of a toddler with a recorder. Then again, every member of that band ruined the odd track at one point or another!

Still wish I had been around to see them more than any other band though.

Pretty much any song where they have to say their name about a dozen times. Just in case its too generic to tell I guess
