WASHINGTON - Impeach Trump Again, a nonpartisan campaign led by Free Speech For People, announced today that they have collected over 250,000 petition signatures in support of an impeachment investigation of President Donald Trump. The announcement comes on the heels of Rep. Al Green’s recent House floor speech that he would bring articles of impeachment against the president.

“The Constitution has a remedy for a corrupt, lawless president: impeachment,” says John Bonifaz, President of Free Speech For People. “Donald Trump has already committed multiple abuses of power since assuming the Oval Office again, and he must be held accountable. More than 250,000 people across the country have now joined this call for impeachment proceedings against Trump. We urge all Americans who still believe in the Constitution and our democracy to join us at this critical moment in our nation’s history. And, we urge Members of Congress to follow the mandate of their oath of office, stand with Congressman Al Green, and invoke the power of the Impeachment Clause to address the direct and serious threat Donald Trump poses to our Republic.”

      not to sign the petition.

it’s a legitimate petition that you don’t have to pay anything to sign.

You don’t have to pay for signing, but they definitely are asking for money. It’s an ActBlue campaign. This is like Change.org bullshit all over again.

If ActBlue did anything worthwhile at all with the money they are donated, then we wouldn’t be here responding in this thread right now, right?

you can be part of important political action here without paying the committee that is going through the trouble of organizing and campaigning this political action.

The political action itself is free for you to participate in, while political organizations in general, a separate issue, accept donations if you have the money and inclination.

All political campaigns have costs and pay their employees.

you are under no obligation to pay in order to sign a petition and take political action against an absolutely terrible person.

“If ActBlue did anything worthwhile at all with the money they are donated, then we wouldn’t be here responding in this thread right now, right?”

          absolutely incorrect, foundationally and fundamentally.

you are arguing that the Allies shouldn’t resist the axis because if the Allies are worth anything than the axis would never have come to power, which is not correct. of course they should fight an authoritarian regime executing civilians and trying to take over Europe.

If this was just a campaign to “save the country” as described, then I don’t find a reason to ask for money to do so.

Do it because you’re saving the country, not because of any other reason.

you seem to be angry at libraries for offering a free, positive and critical social service that you don’t have to pay for, while also accepting donations if you have the ability and inclination.

              that is a weird focus.

this thread is about a petition influencing Congressional action to impeach Donald Trump, a critical and free service that you can participate in.

libraries similarly offer a critical and free service that you can participate in.

neither of them require your money, but both of them accept donations.

you are arguing that nobody should participate in political action, and by extension borrow books from libraries, because those organizations accept donations.

                  that is weird.

What are you talking about? They don’t ask for money anywhere on the site - show me where they ask for money.

Edit: downvote instead of a response? Classy, Vlad.

Edit ++: proof was provided, I stand corrected.

Must have come in while I was typing the edit, c’est la vie. Proof was provided, so I’ve reversed my downvotes and removed the link from the post text.

Dafuq? That doesn’t appear at all on Firefox on desktop, or maybe my adblocker got it. I stand corrected and rescind my downvotes.

That being said, classifying Act Blue as a scam is a bit of a reach, although I agree they’re annoying as shit.
