Summary
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez announced she will not attend Donald Trump’s inauguration, stating, “I don’t celebrate rapists,” referencing Trump’s history of sexual assault allegations.
While Trump has never been convicted of rape, a jury found him civilly liable for sexually abusing E. Jean Carroll.
Ocasio-Cortez also criticized TikTok for crediting Trump with restoring service in the U.S., calling it a propaganda move.
She warned of social media platforms being weaponized by right-wing interests, claiming they are contributing to the rise of “21st-century fascism” under the incoming administration.
So, like, one guy.
Yeah dude, I’m fairly confident most of us dislike Reagan a fucking lot.
At least, most people in my generation that I hang out with, so it could be self selecting.
You’d be surprised how many people still seem to believe in Reaganomics, and far too many either forgot about Iran-Contra or still believe he was the deal maker that saved the day.
But yes, probably more boomers than Gen X. X is in a weird spot, cause the people I’m thinking of are borderline Boomers and mostly just aren’t well informed.
You’re probably right. I’ll admit it’s a self selection bias because I’m old enough to have made up my mind not to associate with people that have fundamentally different beliefs than I do.
So there are likely a lot of them, but none of them are MY friends, so it’s easy enough to believe in my little sphere.
If it makes you feel any better, I’m not exactly proud of my millennial cohort as a whole. I think on average they’re ok (Obama was a good vote and a real primary in '08) but it’s not like they don’t have their own brain rot. It’s good to have your own cool bubble to be with, though.
