Step 1: Commit crimes.
I know I’m super boring, but I personally never liked see-through cases. I’m not techy enough for any of the hardware to mean anything to me, so it just looks like robot guts. Occasionally I’ve had to take controllers apart for cleaning or replacing membranes, but while it was fun seeing the insides, I wouldn’t want it all day.
I know there was some occasional friction between the fans on the old site, but I’ll also throw in a recommendation for The Orville as modern Trek that’s worth seeing. It does a great job capturing the spirit of the second-gen era presented for the current gen, with its cautious optimism pricked once a week by reminders of challenges yet to be resolved.
The first season is slightly rough (more proof it’s a real Trek show?), as they figured out the ratio of comedy to drama, but by season three it’s about as jokey as TNG. Fox did a bad job promoting it, it’s definitely not Family Guy in space, which I think was probably what the network wanted it to be.
There’s tons of Trek people both behind and in front of the camera, so while there’s obviously no ties to the Trek canon, it’s the closest anything has ever come, stylistically.

Working fine here (kbin web interface). Possibly a limitation of whatever app you’re using? I would expect it to work fine via web, though.
I know it’s petty, but I find it extremely frustrating that he likely didn’t have enough time to realize just how wrong he was about everything before he died. He went to his death saying “No, it’s the children who are wrong.”
No, it’s just saying “I won’t come into your room.” They can still go anywhere they want.

Definitely. As a fellow kbean, I was enjoying my time in our funny little walled garden, but the community suddenly expanding ten-fold overnight was pretty spectacular.
kbin has not been defederated from Beehaw, so interactions between those servers are continuing as normal. There’s lots of posts about how “we” are defederated from Beehaw on the kbin front page, but those aren’t coming from kbin itself, they’re just showing up on the kbin front page because they’re popular content in the threadiverse.
We (all of us, not a specific instance) should probably get into the habit of referring to our instances by name instead of just saying “us”, “we”, etc. because it causes exactly this kind of confusion when we don’t.
It’s a bit self-serving of me to phrase it this way, but I do think the Reddit debacle shaved off a disproportionately not-terrible segment of the Reddit userbase. I think you could make your comment about Redditors instead and it would still be fair. There’s obviously a lot of Twitter users we don’t want here, but if we got the top 0.1% of Twitter users by quality? That’s not bad.
