No, it’s definitely atmospheric scattering. Blue and red shifting occurs when interstellar objects accelerate towards or away from us near the speed of light
“Dog” is a pretty decent guess, without the context I would have assumed it was an otter
I hope we preserve all our robot heroes like this when we have settlements on Mars
No one considers the coconut anymore 😔
I think QA engineering needs to become more widespread. The “extra pair of eyes” can’t compare to a department of people dedicated to code review and testing.
And what’s sad are the number of people that act like credit scores are a force of nature we just have to accept
Wow, that’s some damn good insurance if it’s only $60
The image is in fact CGI, but yes there are several viruses known as bacteriophages that look like this.
Trying to find this confirmed electromagnetic scan of this phage led me down a truly fascinating rabbit hole about antibacterial phage therapy, taxonomy, and more. Let your curiosity take the better of you on Wikipedia

Yes, the different strains absolutely have some differences, and I’m not trying to say it’s all bullshit. Weed is awesome, and we should document new stuff as it comes along, but we need to remember that it’s all a single plant. I’d say weed is like the apple of drugs
No, they’re not. Industrial hemp is also Cannabis sativa.
Cannabis sativa is the same plant for every single strain of cannabis in existence, as well as hemp. The meme is pointing out how we talk about sativa, indica, and hybrids as completely different plants, rather than variations of the same species
I understand that eye contact is important for communication, but I just get intensely uncomfortable if it feels like more than a few seconds. I keep something I can fidget with around me at all times, to give a reason to break eye contact. I’ve also leaned into “animated” listening: exaggerated expressions so they know I’m listening. I think it also conveys more trust with the person, because they get much more comfortable sharing after a couple minutes even without lots of eye contact.
Botanists, can you please get started on the research?
It’s certainly bizarre. I think it’s transmedicalism, but it could be any number of bizarre ERF ideologies. They crop up like weeds. I’ve already blocked them and reported the post though, so hopefully it gets handled soon.
Gtfo with your transmedicalist bs. It’s not welcome on lemmy.
I didn’t think I’d ever actually come across a transmedicalist in the wild. Fuck off, you’re not welcome.
Over time, a population of proto-chickens lay eggs with unique genetic variations that randomly direct the population towards laying eggs that result in modern chickens. The egg comes first, and it’s a whole bunch of them
I’m old school, I stick to calling them boss, capitalist, and bourgeoisie
