I wouldn’t worry so much for the cashier as the people behind me, if looks could kill!

Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•The way my fuck-ass pharmacist makes up the remaining pills in my bastarding prescriptionEnglish
1·16 天前There a few many reasons why plastic bottles aren’t the best option for some medications and it comes down to the technical specifications of the drug as well as drug safety regulations.
Iirc, bottles aren’t optimal for formulations that result in friable (brittle) tablets, or those that need to be packaged in a reduced oxygen environment so that you can take out a tablet individually without exposing all the others to regular air, and so that they’re easy to handle and transport individually without exposure to contaminants in the environment up to the moment that they need to be ingested.
I encourage people to look deeper into pharmaceutical technology. It’s a fascinating field full of surprises.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What "Would You Rather" question genuinely made you stop and think?
2·18 天前I can’t live without one of these. I’ll let the audience decide which.

Fediverse@lemmy.world•Wafrn, a fedi software that also connects with blueskyEnglish
9·18 天前I wish these posts came with a small description of what these sites are, what they do, and why I would want to join.
Wafrn is a federated social media inspired by Tumblr that connects with both the Fediverse and Bluesky.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Does anyone just feels extremely annoyed when other people are playing their videos on loudspeaker?
2·19 天前Everything Lemmy doesn’t like is an incel, a nazi or a bot account.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Does anyone just feels extremely annoyed when other people are playing their videos on loudspeaker?
3·19 天前This happened to me last night. I was wasted out of my mind for New Year’s, so I stopped at a convenience store that was open at 4 am. The lady next to me was playing some god-awful video on her loudspeaker while I was trying to slurp down my ramen noodles and hold my head together.
How can anyone be this inconsiderate and not get the hint when the other person makes a grand gesture to put on their headphones?
The final boss has decided to nap on my lap. Now would be a great time to reach for the sword but I’m incapable of moving. I’m losing this battle, help!

18·23 天前I’ve used it before for a job application! I needed to send them sensitive data. Tysm!
Great intuitive UI, does what it says, and it’s fast. 5/5
You big, hairy ape! Look at you over here, with your big brain and your big ass. So much abstract thinking, and you ain’t even got a prehensile tail!

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Do any of you actually know someone who legitimately believes there's an actual "War on Christmas?"
3·26 天前Sounds like a pagan ritual. I’m in.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Do any of you actually know someone who legitimately believes there's an actual "War on Christmas?"
6·26 天前it’s another dumb American thing?
Yes, it’s an annual tradition at this point.
The quick downvote sells it.
I feel like this could’ve been better as an open-ended question. I don’t hate Christmas but I don’t like some aspects of it, although not all of them are specific to Christmas.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What wisdom from someone else has stuck with you?
3·28 天前Oh yeah, they gain some courage to pick on people who are alone. Most of the nasty comments I’ve heard about me being said out loud have come from large groups when I’m just walking by and minding my own business.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's a time you stuck to your principles despite it being inconvenient to you?
8·30 天前I once went out with a friend to the clubs while I was on vacation at his house in the big city. He had gotten a new job as a director and I was a minimum wage scrub.
He wanted to go to the restroom, so he gave me his coat and some money to store our things away. I find out they were charging an extraordinary rent for what many others offer for free. I refused thinking it was abusively outrageous and went back with our stuff thinking we could just store them elsewhere at a reasonable price.
He was pissed. He told me off and decided our night out was over. He railed at me, made me cry, and basically told me our friendship was over. In my mind, I was only trying to protect him. I left the next day.
He called me back a couple of times months later but I had already moved on. I want to think that he regretted it, but he’s in the big leagues now and probably thinks less of me.
I did believe the US government orchestrated it for a while, but I’m not sure anymore. It’s still one of those “holy shit, this could go either way” conspiracies for me. I’d love to find out the truth once and for all.
I once watched a documentary on all-natural child birth. I remember it made some believable points about how terrible epidurals were and how bath tubs and pools were better methods for birthing, all the while vilifying the medical establishment for not giving women choices.
I ate it all up thinking doctors were bastards for this until I finished my second semester at college for my medicine-adjacent degree. Oh, the shame!
