So the only problem is you’d have to update every VM over time to get security patches, this is mainly a problem if you’re on limited internet(like me). Im capped at 100gb a month and my download speed is almost always less than 1mb/sec.
Windows has a feature that if one system on your network is updated, other systems on the network can download locally from that one and save your data, which is wonderful. But you still need to update Nvidia drivers for each VM, and update games, etc. You can connect a hard drive(virtual or physical) to multiple VMs, but only run VMs with a common hard drive one at a time.
And mind you this isn’t to save compatibly, for me once it works it works. I just like to keep security patches updated because I download a lot of sketchy programs lol.
Latency is non-existent. I use a program called lookingglass, which allocates like 32mb of GPU memory to be dedicated to passing frames between the VM and the host. Or non-existent for my level of perception. If you’re Spidey senses tingle more easily you can pass through a secondary keyboard and mouse and just literally have two screens two keyboards two mice one box. It would have the same latency as bare metal. And even have two people play multiplayer games together off of one box if you have the horsepower.
Only 1.5 volts.
Steam deck would need 10 AA
I’m very happy with this bag. I fit the deck, the charger it came with, a USBC hub with HDMI out, a 10ft HDMI cable, an Anker battery pack, 2 more charging cables, a 5g LTE hotspot, a trifold keyboard/mouse, and an old cellphone.
I wish I could have the AUR without the rolling release, or more realistically I use arch without utilitizing the rolling release. I’m on such shitty + spotty + capped at 100gb I only update my system once a month. Haven’t had problems though, so I guess im not complaining. Updating my windows VMs is significantly worse
Oh shit how can you do this?
My internet at home is usually >3mb download, >300kb upload, and rate limited at 100gb a month. Worse up/downs when it rains.
I set up a spare phone to download files to a specific folder, then automatically backup those files over LAN to my desktop at home. When I go to a friend’s house with better internet I just leave the phone there overnight. This is working for everything except my steam games, which I don’t think I can download to a phone
If you can find a source for a left thumbpad replacement you’ll be a hero. Everything works on mine except clicking the left thumbpad
I’d imagine it’s because of how many instances it’s gone excommunicado with.
An aftermarket case with extra storage, a USB c dock with HDMI out /usb’s/ and charging, an HDMI cable, a stick-on kickstand on the back of the deck, and a foldout Bluetooth keyboard and trackpad.
That’s a 1TB.
Was the 2TB in your earlier comment a typo?
Yeah but by that time people will be posting ‘relationship ended with Wayland, (next thing) is my new best friend.’
I use Nvidia and I haven’t really had any problems myself.
Arch based system running a Nvidia Quadro card, then I have a 3080ti disabled on boot from Linux that’s passed through to VM’s.
Even passing it through to an arch based VM doesn’t give me any issues.
But that’s just my personal experience as well
A solid desktop for stabile diffusion combined with a Chromebook good enough for a remote desktop client is significantly cheaper than a laptop capable of stable diffusion. Not counting future upgradability
Do you have a source for the 8°C claim?
I wish. I’ve updated it from both F droid and the play store and both say my instance version isnt on the current update so I can’t sign in at all.
My instance isn’t updated because the new update is fucky with captchas idk the fine details
I can help you set yours up like mine if you want!
But you’d need to make sure you have two graphics cards. I have the 3080 disabled from Linux until a VM starts, so it won’t load the Linux desktop or anything. Even a CPU with integrated graphics works, but a physical GPU is obviously better.
I really like the Quadro series for this as its physically thinner, lower power, and has the performance around a 1060. They’re on ebay for like $60
My jerboa was crashing so I tried to install it from Fdroid, and now I can’t sign into either version. (Server isn’t updated because of captcha issues with new update. Jerboa is preventing login because of this.)
So that prevented me from using jerboa.
Connect works still, shame jerboa is having issues.
