This could be turned into a game with some kind of narrative like a Choose-Your-Own-E.U.L.Adventure. Players might try to exploit it though, so there should probably be some terms they have to agree to first.

happen does How a typo this like even? It’s like they noticed the word “you” was missing and then decided to add it haphazardly. If “go to” was omitted it also would have been coherent.
I had that cover art (without text) as my desktop wallpaper from ~2011 until ~September of last year. As far as I know, the photographer is Dominic Kamp. I like when classical music is “reimagined” so I’ll have to check out more stuff by this group. I haven’t listened to anything beyond her album Artemis but I think Lindsey Stirling does similar stuff with a violin.
El Torito is an extension designed to allow booting a computer from a CD-ROM. It was announced in November 1994 and first issued in January 1995 as a joint proposal by IBM and BIOS manufacturer Phoenix Technologies. According to legend, the El Torito CD/DVD extension to ISO 9660 got its name because its design originated in an El Torito restaurant in Irvine, California.
A 32-bit PC BIOS will search for boot code on an ISO 9660 CD-ROM. The standard allows for booting in two different modes. Either in hard disk emulation when the boot information can be accessed directly from the CD media, or in floppy emulation mode where the boot information is stored in an image file of a floppy disk, which is loaded from the CD and then behaves as a virtual floppy disk. This is useful for computers that were designed to boot only from a floppy drive. For modern computers the “no emulation” mode is generally the more reliable method.
I vaguely remember fighting with getting burned OS install discs to reliably boot. Another fun thing from around that time is if you happened to plug in the floppy drive cable backwards any disks inserted would be erased. That’s a great way to accidentally nuke your boot disk and be screwed if you weren’t near another working machine with a floppy drive. Lots of little headaches like that really drilled in the concept of redundancies and lots of backups (as well as not mindlessly installing a floppy drive).
I heard of it from a Reddit comment about an easter egg location in Diablo 3 called “The Fowl Lair.” It’s filled with chickens and a single Greasy Pig.
The fable of the Chicken and the Pig is used to illustrate the differing levels of commitment from project stakeholders involved in a project. The basic fable runs:

I thought I was polite in my initial request that they cut back on linking their site, I don’t recall ever suggesting people collect their pitchforks and torches. Please be more dramatic :)
I’m just not interested in having another source of non-stop (undisclosed) advertising trying to appear as organic engagement and am announcing it publicly in the hopes that they either limit their use of it or to at least make others aware what the user is doing.
It would be one thing if they were announcing they own the site but it’s the only place they link to and it gets shoehorned into multiple communities with calls to go visit it.
Please consider not constantly trying to self-promote your website.

Surely if we all continue to make brash emotional responses to the concerns around firearm safety instead of effective ones we’ll get this menace solved any day now.
Not worried about saving face, my reply was more a rebuttal to yours re: “Lemmy when every minor detail isn’t included” etc. I would think the perpetrator’s name would be more important than the caliber and manufacturer of the firearm; e.g. “GOP Politician Don Wilson Leaves a Loaded Pistol in the Bathroom” imparts more key information than the one used - and even the fact is was loaded isn’t surprising since it being left in the bathroom implies it is used for self-defense and would likely be loaded. There is the possibility that it was some prop used for demonstration that was accidentally left there which would (hopefully) be unloaded so it’s not a strictly extraneous detail to include so that alone I don’t take issue with.
My issue is just specifying it was Glock and 9mm in the headline was simply because of the public’s familiarity with the words but not what they mean necessarily [the most popular handgun in the most popular caliber] and was intended to make the scenario sound even more scary. I used the three examples to point out that they would likely report the other scenarios as simply ‘left vehicle parked illegally’, omit the clothing and briefcase composition regarding the shoplifting, and not specify the brand of beer or its unsurprising temperature and form factor in the parking lot drinking.
Sure, get specific in the body to accurately describe the facts, but the headline isn’t meaningfully changed by omitting those points so I don’t think they were needed.
I just don’t feel like the make and caliber of the pistol was more pertinent than the name of the politician to highlight in the headline.
Was it extra dangerous because it was a Glock pistol and not Sig Sauer? Would it have been less an issue if it was .380 Auto or .45 ACP instead of 9mm?
