It really seems like not only can’t they be touched, but everyone else is also so jaded by the situation that no one is even fucking trying.
All the cool people will be right there with you my friend. Well, almost all, anyway.
If we split a hare we’ll both go hungry cause hares are small and I’m vegetarian
I understand the need for having one particular defined name for a species, honestly. That makes some sense to me. But just because taxonomically a bird is not called a seagull doesn’t mean that it is not a seagull. Otherwise what is a seagull? There is no bird that has the ‘official’ name “seagull”. So what, seagulls don’t exist? It’s a semantic distinction that is meaningless outside of its narrow context.
Yeah but like, my dog is a dog but it’s also a Labrador and also has a name. The great black-backed gull is also known as Larus marinus which means sea gull, and is also commonly referred to as a seagull. By what notion is that not a seagull?
Wikipedia on Larus marinus, or the great black-backed gull:
The scientific name is from Latin. Larus appears to have referred to a gull or other large seabird. The specific name marinus means “marine”, or when taken together, “sea gull”.
If that’s not a seagull I don’t know what is.
I really don’t understand what the point of the distinction is. It’s not like there’s something else which is a seagull but not a gull. Seagull is just another word for the same bird… Or am I missing something?
Moments after finding your hideous, inefficient, working solution… You suddenly understand the problem properly. There’s a built in class method that solves the problem already.
They were going to say “bigger than Jesus” but it was deemed too controversial.
Oof, suggesting that the “absurdity” of the Bush administration would never be topped didn’t age well
Simplified view is great on mobile. I just wish you could enable it manually!
Or perhaps accusing someone of short changing you based purely on the sound the coins make on the counter.
I can have conversations without people assuming I’ve finished speaking and moving on when I’m pausing to try and collect my thoughts. That’s pretty nice lmao
I’ve met a British man taller than that! This is all lies!
If we ever see AR or implants overtake touch screens (unlikely imo because typing in AR fucking sucks) then I hope flips come back just for the talking part.
Human in the loop systems with LLMs really nicely deal with a lot of their problems. Very cool! Do you have specific change “types” that the system is able to propose? I guess restricting the response to the right types is covered by your JSON schema?
Fair play to Open AI - I still think LLMs are overhyped, but they’re moving things along constantly in impressive ways.
I know a guy who was working on something like this, they just had the call to the model loop until the response met whatever criteria the code needed (e.g. one single number, a specifically formatted table, viable code, etc) or exit after a number of failed attempts. That seemed to work pretty well, it might mess up from time to time but it’s unlikely to (with the right prompt) do so repeatedly when asked again.
Oooof. I feel like trying to figure out what’s wrong with some regex I didn’t write is much harder than writing it myself personally.
