Welcome! Lemmy isn’t as large as places like Reddit, but we have cookies, and not those types that track you on websites. Those shouldn’t be called the same name as something as delicious as cookies, I daresay.
This is one of the chief reasons for its appeal! I appreciate what you’re saying about cookies. They should be called tags or something less delicious.
Tracker is a much more honest name for what they are, but I don’t think people would willingly “Accept All Trackers” instead of accepting all cookies lol
This is a valid point! I think something being that transparent in terms of descriptors would be… well, a detractor. I keep forgetting that people need to be regularly misled to do anything to make other people money 😂
