No clue what variety of cactus it is, but it’s one of my favourites.

They look so nice when they get the kind of light they like. I’ve always heard this variety nicknamed “peanut cactus” due, I guess, to the resemblance of the little growing buds to a shelled peanut?

I just googled it and man, there’s a lot of variation! Some are upright, some more prostrate, some thick, some thin and noodly like mine. I can’t wait to see if it will flower. Thanks for the ID.

I have one I inherited from my grandmother, it’s nearly impossible to kill. It’s the kind of plant that varies significantly with lighting conditions so if you move it, it will begin to grow differently and look odd. The compensation is it propagates easily, so whenever I have to move mine, I place some ‘peanuts’ on new soil. It grows so fast it is soon back to full glory.

When it finds the perfect place for itself, it looks like green dreadlocks. It will also grow very fast when given the water it needs. They are actually very thirsty for cactus and do best when watered regularly but allowed to dry only a little between drinks.
