Electric Six is a weird band to me…some of their songs I love (“I Buy the Drugs,” “Hello, I See You”) and some I haaate (“Gay Bar,” “Dance Commander”) and I can’t explain why one works for me and the other does. My wife thinks they sound exactly the same…I’m hard-pressed to disagree. But the ones I like I really really like.
Same with me, they have some really awesome songs (Gay Bar, Danger, Synthesizer, a few others), but then a large part of their stuff is just really sub-par drivel, and I have trouble reconciling those two facts. I can’t believe it’s the same people that made all the same songs, did a key member of the band leave at some point?
I went to see them in my old hometown in West Virginia and apparently one of the members is from here. Anyway they talked so much shit about my state between every song. Far beyond the point of ribbing. I walked out. Hope they made a lot of money off the 30 of us that came to see them.
