  • Florida is already a swing state and has been for ages. 2 of the last 4 elections it went blue.

It wasn’t a freak accident either. There’s no sane way to look at the last 70 years of presidential elections in Florida and determine it’s been a safe long-term bet for either party in that timeframe. It usually votes for the winner, but when it hasn’t, that loser has always (in modern times) been a Republican - so the state is at least much more electorally important to them than it is to Democrats. It’s very much always been a leans-Republican swing state.

Muphry’s law at work - for both of us, actually. I looked it up (since with Ns the units no longer worked out between E = mc² and F = ma), and a joule is actually a Nm, a Newton-meter. And with that the units do work out correctly on both equations.

  • Plus even that isn’t enough: 10/3 has an infinite decimal expansion (in base 10 at least) too, but if π = 10/3, you’d be able to find exact circumferences. Its irrationality is what makes it relevant to this joke.

A mathematician is also perfectly happy with answers like “4π” as exact.

Plus what’s to stop you from having a rational circumference but irrational radius?

Writing this, I feel like I might have accidentally proved your point.

  • This stance has nothing to do with anglocentrism and everything to do with making Lemmy usable. You set your languages in your profile so you’ll only see posts and comments in those languages. No one likes seeing lots of posts in languages they don’t understand, and that that only happens when people are too lazy to set the language indicator. I’d fully expect and encourage non-English speakers to downvote improperly tagged English posts in their feed as well.
