y0kai [he/him]@anarchist.nexusto Programmer Humor@programming.dev•How I, a non-developer, read the tutorial you, a developer, wrote for me, a beginner - annie's blogEnglish34·6 days agoSometimes it’s not user friendly, other times it’s not friendly users.
I don’t know how up to date this is, because I haven’t used it in a while but it was helpful to me when I was first getting started: https://github.com/mikeroyal/Self-Hosting-Guide#getting-started-with-self-hosting
I ended up going with proxmox because you get all the features of proxmox, and you can use docker on it. So, best of both worlds. For some youtube resources, check out:
- Jim’s Garage:
- Learn Linux TV:
There is also https://landchad.net/ which has some useful info and tutorials.
Lastly, these final two aren’t guides per se, but have lots of useful resources:

Overall, I’d say I’m a fan.
y0kai [he/him]@anarchist.nexusto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Why do iphone users still see their phones as a status symbolEnglish7·25 days agoIt used to be much worse. I remember being excluded from group chats in high school because of the color of the chat bubble for android was different or some shit lol

y0kai [he/him]@anarchist.nexusto Linux@lemmy.ml•Linux phones are more important now than everEnglish15·27 days agosame. There is one windows computer still in this house and it’s unplugged. Everything else is Linux, Android, or FreeBSD based.
y0kai [he/him]@anarchist.nexusto Linux@lemmy.ml•Linux phones are more important now than everEnglish2·27 days agoI’ll have to look into it. 30GB isn’t bad at all. I think I have unlimited now with text and phone for only like $10 more a month. I’d have to look, it’s been a while since i’ve dealt with it.
y0kai [he/him]@anarchist.nexusto Linux@lemmy.ml•Linux phones are more important now than everEnglish5·27 days agoI’m likely going to go to t-mobile as they’re cheap from what I understand and they make up a big part of the network that google leases, along with (i think) US Cellular, or something similar.
That said, I’ve got about a year to decide, unless someone decides to hire me and then I can pay my phone off early.
y0kai [he/him]@anarchist.nexusto Linux@lemmy.ml•Linux phones are more important now than everEnglish136·27 days agoMy next phone will run Linux, even if it is inconvenient.
As soon as this phone is paid off, I’ll be changing from Google Fi as well. Which sucks because it’s hella cheap.

y0kai [he/him]@anarchist.nexusto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Have you gotten a response after asking why you weren't hired?English2·1 month agoYeah, and I’m considerably new to the field. Not unskilled but like entry level new, as far as professional tech experience goes. I was trying to change careers from business degree / accountant when I was laid off.
Really trying not to go back to accounting as it was mind numbingly boring.
I’m just gonna keep trying until something gives and have fun learning more in the process.
y0kai [he/him]@anarchist.nexusto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Have you gotten a response after asking why you weren't hired?English6·1 month agoI am in the same boat. Can’t even get an interview it seems.
AI slop. Half of those “words” aren’t even words /s
