That’s an interesting one. I feel like you’d get a fun 5-10 hours out of it but it always kind of caps out there. I go back to it every few years and after an hour I’m just kind of like, oh yeah.

I assumed they meant something like a button to hide or downvote to hide post. But I mentioned the filters since that’s all I’ve seen currently available among the lemmy apps

I know this is for Jeroba but boost for lemmy has a filtered words list, you can definitely add spider to it.

It also used to have hide on read/downvote for the reddit version but it may not be implemented yet, as I can’t find it in the settings. Anyway, sorry for suggesting a different app!

I hope the steam controller to be that. The CAD files are online, it only has a few points to potentially stop working that for the most part can be repaired, it’s replaceable AA batteries…

The downside is that replacement parts for the trackpads are probably not easy to find (I haven’t looked), and of course finding one in the first place for not a ridiculous amount of money is hard pressed. I think you can buy a flashed dongle that will work with it, otherwise you need it Bluetooth/USB. Some don’t like the not-real D-Pad but when it’s set to touch-active instead of click active it’s pretty nice. I do like it for fighting games, but since it’s only 500hz polling rate it’s not a competitive option. I have played Melee on it though and I did fine after the adjustment.

Everything else though is pretty much replaceable, I just replaced my fading thumb sticks for some 8bitdo ones and now they match the Steam Deck, I’m pretty sure the analog stick box is able to be replaced as same with the button pads. Bumpers are also fixable.

IMO it’s just the best. I still have my Nov 2015 launch Steam Controller with the Aperture skin and it’s had hundreds of falls on wood floors. People talk about how the RB is super fragile and the most consistent break point - and it must be since that seemed somewhat common, but I have 4 and I play Monster Hunter. The RB button is my lifeblood, between that game and the controller drops you’d think mine would be shattered to a billion pieces, but no it still works perfectly.

This was shown to me on my personal Instagram, my partner is heavily involved in our queer community. I was shocked when I saw this post on Instagram, then I saw it was from Threads. Way to fucking validate my position about every reason I’ve been giving to defederated from Threads.

I was searching for hours today for somewhere to post this. I ended up finding just a random community with a somewhat relevant post just to get it off my chest since there’s nothing to really do about it. But thank you for this post, I only hope that this is the push people on the fence need to realize that Meta shouldn’t be embraced.

On an aside but regarding Threads federation - are people’s smaller servers even equipped to be able to handle the potential traffic of Threads users? Or would it not work like that? Like, if a link to my comment above for example were posted on threads and it blew up and 25m people were trying to view it… Wouldn’t that effectively DDoS my instance if it’s not able to handle that kind of traffic?

And threads is supposed to be a good thing somehow. Psh.
