I feel like I also encountered these in Japan, but my memory could deceive me.
We don’t seem to have these in the US. When I was last travelling overseas it took me a while to realize why the caps had these. I don’t mind them.

I see the value in your opinion. I agree to an extent, because I’m a fan of reliable best practices and strict-ish design philosophies. However, there’s no way I could give up all the wonderful flavors of things, such as WMs.
I find the whole idea of “unthemeable” apps annoying. One big motivating factor of using Linux for me is the ability to create a custom and cohesive aesthetic. I actually actively avoid apps that take it upon themselves to override and create their own (often ugly) decorations, menus, popups, etc. They’re almost never flattering, and they typically stand out like a sore thumb in my workflow.
Very. I’ve always used Debian flavors, but I recently installed barebones Debian 12 starting from the command line up. The result has been a sleek, lightweight powerhouse of a laptop.
I only think the top drive is optical. The two below it look like removable HDDs. Too pixelized to be certain.
I’ve been a bachelor for the majority of the last 10 years. Relationships can sometimes be nice, but being by yourself can be nicer.
