Killing a public servant leading to death penalty eligibility is one of the verbatim reasons in the law. I am confused by your comment? If you think this is new, I don’t know if it will assuage your concern that it’s a not a new phenomenon. It’s always been a death eligible crime.

I noticed the “Psychic.” At first I thought that it was alluding to people like me who are lawyers but have a strategic mind and fairly accurately predict outcome with good data and information.

It’s a troll as you say. But having watched the law for a long time and being in the law, it is highly likely that a group that is more competent will get a hold of this idea, draft a real version, and pump that legislation out to every state legislature.

We have that being homosexual is a crime still on the books in most places. We are only 40 years old from homosexuality being considered a mental illness. This sort of thing is absolutely on the table.

I must add: I have a friend in his 50’s who had a similar reaction that you did. So, please don’t think your perspective is invalid here. You aren’t wrong in pointing out that this line did hurt some people whom it wasn’t meant for—including yourself.

You would probably like the Tao Te Ching. If you haven’t read it before it’s fairly short. There are many translations. I think you might find strategy to use empathy offensively there.

Sometimes we have to set aside our ego and strike where our opponent is weakest. They are weakest when they feel like they are not being included in the “in group.” Weird cuts quickly to that weakness. It has nothing to do with you and everything to do with them.

If you are hurt by this, then maybe you should work on your introspection and figure out why it bothers you so much. It almost certainly wasn’t meant in the way you’ve taken it. I hope you find growth here.

Either way, I agree with everyone. I have a suspicion that Harris team started out the gate with very loud messaging around social economic programs they wanted to push.

Then they got reeled in by the donor class. There’s a distinct dampening on clear message a few weeks after the confusion was settled. This is just my little theory though. I think the messaging is vague on purpose to please the wealthy donors.

I just want to second this comment and chime in with my experiences. (Thanks also for the information on Framework as I’m not familiar and love to learn)

My family primarily uses Thinkpads. We refurbish them for fun (and often give them away to our community). We run Linux easily on almost all our Thinkpads. So far, Linux works very well even on some old machines (as old as 2012 which wouldn’t be what OP is looking for but still worth mentioning).

We try different distros all the time but mostly stick with Fedora and PopOS.

Right now, I am on a refurbished Thinkpad T480s running PopOS. The 7th gen processor is probably too slow for OP but it runs Linux great and it can even handle running a large dwarf fortress through Steam haha. The T480s also has a touchscreen option (and screens can often be swapped out). The T480s screens usually have a hinge where they can lay completely flat (although, I’m not sure if they are pen compatible).

A more recent Thinkpad with a better processor could be an option for OP to consider in addition to the other great suggestions you made. :)
