Oh, is THAT what it is? Thanks, I couldn’t figure it out at all! 👍

This is more of a fix than a feature, but I find that sometimes when I’m in my inbox, I can’t get back to my home screen. It’s inconsistent but it happens a lot, and I usually have to open a comment reply, then go to the thread, then the community, and then I can use the home button again.
It’s something that happened with Sync for Reddit too, so it’s not a new issue. I can’t seem to work out a pattern of circumstances though, it just seems to happen randomly.
Something something, “break a leg”, something something.
Seriously though, I hope he’s ok.
Was offered Gemini for the first time this morning after saying Hey Google. Turned it down, as not sure if I can try it but then still go back when Gemini turns out to be crap.
EDIT - answering my own question…

Switch back to Google Assistant
You can switch back to using Google Assistant as your primary assistant on your phone in your settings. To do this:
Open your Gemini mobile app.
At the top right, tap your Profile picture or initial and then Settings and then Digital assistants from Google.
Tap Google Assistant.
Bear in mind, if you’re switching back to Google Assistant as your primary assistant:
When you say, ‘Hey Google’, or activate your mobile assistant by touch (like when you press and hold the power button), Google Assistant will respond.
If your Web & App Activity is turned on, data from your interactions with Google Assistant will be saved to your Google Account. Learn more about how Google Assistant works with your data.
Data saved in your Gemini Apps activity will not automatically be deleted, but you can review and delete it at any time.
😁
Yes, that’s true. I don’t know why I said “originally”. I guess I meant that its recent popularity can likely be ascribed to TITC. But you’re right, it was a thing before that.
Just for info, in case you don’t know… the phrase “Have you tried turning it off and back on again” is (or at least originally was) a reference to British sitcom, The IT Crowd.
The show follows the IT department of a largish company and whenever anyone has any kind of computer problem of any sort, the advice given is to turn it off and on. Surprisingly this actually works most of the time.
So, I don’t think the OP was trying to annoy you, just make a pop-culture reference that they assumed you would get :-)
Shudder…
It’s a work thing for me, I wouldn’t use it otherwise.
I find it useful for what it’s actually meant for, but they keep trying to force other functionality into it, it’s so frustrating.
Agreed, it’s infuriating. As are Skype’s continual efforts to get me to follow interest channels. Why can’t it just be a communications app, and leave it at that? Aaaaarrrggghhh!!!
Agreed, it’s such a clickbaity tactic - makes it sound like they’re revealing some dark secret Google wanted kept hidden, when in fact it sounds like a small but useful change to improve customer experience, but not something that they would make a big deal out of.
In Chrome, ctrl+shift+n opens an incognito window. It’s ctrl+shift+t to reopen a closed tab, and repeat that if you want to reopen more tabs.
Feb. 29, 2016: At a rally for GOP Sen. Marco Rubio, who Haley had endorsed in the primary, Haley said of Trump, “I will not stop until we fight a man that chooses not to disavow the K.K.K. That is not a part of our party. That is not who we are,”
Jan. 12, 2021: In an interview with Politico, Haley said of Trump, “We need to acknowledge he let us down. He went down a path he shouldn’t have, and we shouldn’t have followed him, and we shouldn’t have listened to him. And we can’t let that ever happen again.”
Hey Nikki…
It’s the “to” in the line above that’s the problem, I think. Should be “too”.
I’ve not had it, but someone (who also likes regular Guinness) told me that Guinness zero was genuinely great. Need to check it out sometime.
Well yeah, exactly.
Wouldn’t they have milk available for coffee? Unless they only offered cream, I guess.
Either way, silly that you couldn’t order some.
Yeah, I’ve seen it few times, Pixel 6 Pro, Android 14. Weird little bug.
Colonel Sanders, maybe…
France, have you lost your minds?
