Not really. It’s the result of learning different languages and realising that English is a pretty shit, messed up language with huge limitations.

Vintage story!
A friend’s 8 year old daughter was asking to play Roblox recently and they reached out to me since it’s in my current area of study and advised them against it due to the lack of responsibility that the corporation takes for their users.
I suggested that they introduce her to Vintage Story on a self hosted server instead. That way, they can control who has access and content.
I’m actually surprised at how many parents let their kids play Roblox unmonitored. I mean, why not let them go to the playground unmonitored instead?
Thank you for sharing the excellent shots with us. I love cheetahs. I was lucky to come across two cubs when I travelled there way back in 2012. I couldn’t catch them on my camera though since there were so small.
Whoah! In the Serengeti? Super lucky to see them!

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Does anyone else miss traditional forums?
9·12 days agoI definitely miss being able to search the internet for helpful forum posts. The fact that most things are on discord now and not internet searchable is extremely annoying and only going to get worse.
A friend told me a few weeks ago that the fashion trend during his adolescence was to always wear shorts. He never owned a pair of trousers until he left highschool. He hated winter because he was freezing. This comic is him.

3·1 month agoAgreed on all counts aside from 2.
The original had class and functionality, complete with datum lines and concealed lighting. It was aged, for sure, but the design comes together and looks comfortable.
The new one is literally just slabs of maybe real marble but i doubt it. There’s no demarcation between floor and ceiling. It’s as if someone just used the paint bucket tool and clicked fill. The lighting is atrocious; if you’re in the bath you cop an eyeful of a glare bomb.
I’d take the original any day. Would have probably just added sheer curtains to the windows.
I mean, one got shot and killed, and there was celebration.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's a subject you (think) you know more about than the average Lemmy user?
3·2 months agoLighting and game design
Nope; the average person wants to only customise/personalise, not tinker.
I’m suggesting this distro to friends and family moving off of windows and wanting to save money. They think using command line is too “extra”.

1·2 months agoI don’t know. Considering that these guys feel through the cracks and failed to meet the expected height, weight and fitness and were deployed, I do question the quality assurance process and the competence at the top level.

11·2 months agoLet’s say they do the “brave” thing by naming themselves. They’re thrown out with their middle fingers up, and replaced by an inexperienced sycophant.
That sycophant is now in charge for hundreds if not thousands of other individuals and their lives.
It’s simply not worth their pride to risk the lives of these people under their command.
I think withholding their identities is a smart, if not expected, move.
