Programmer Humor@programming.dev•The Epstein Files include a copy of the Bash manualEnglish
2·14 days agoI wouldn’t be surprised that it was just the few things I use that didn’t care. YouTube-dl was one of them. I wouldn’t be surprised if I was living a lie, and zsh enforced what should have been normal across the board.
I’m not that aware or savvy about the structure of the terminal and what a shell even is. 😅

Programmer Humor@programming.dev•The Epstein Files include a copy of the Bash manualEnglish
8·15 days agoI hate how I need to put URLs in quotes now that I switched to zsh. But over 2025 I finally internalized the fact that I have to.
Otherwise, as a CLI novice, I have not noticed much being different.
(macOS, I finally ran the command to migrate a year or two ago)

4·19 days agoFollowing the immense success of the Stop Destroying Videogames initiative
Wait, what immense results have come from it?
In any case, getting a proper hearing is an achievement. Hopefully it actually happens. Right now the headline says it is happening, and the article only shows that it should happen.

politics @lemmy.world•Misconduct Expert Says State Has the Right to Charge ICE Officer Who Killed Renee GoodEnglish
27·1 month agoIt’s so stupid. People like JD Vance are so stupid. They don’t even consider that they could spin this as a bad event, and the shithead should be prosecuted and that their ICE actions are valid. I don’t agree with ICE and I’m not defending them. But if ICE is valid, then it’s valid that they could fuck up too. It would help their cause to run things in a less toxic way.
But this is asking for nuance from this administration. They’re a bunch of maladjusted sociopaths. And to reiterate: I’m not defending ICE.

Lots of great software ideas out there. It’s always the execution, availability of resources, and the reality of capitalism getting in the way.
