  • I’m missing something here, because I keep seeing posts like this one that have no content. No images, no videos, not a text post, it’s just the title “What doesn’t kill ya” with no explanation.

I see all other posts elsewhere fine, it seems to just be posts in this one community, or from this one user maybe? I’m not sure.

I’m on Boost if that makes any difference…

  • I often spend my time on Lemmy/Reddit feeling and acting bitter and dumb, I’m so angry at myself for this illness and how I’ve ruined my own life because of it, and I’m angry at the world for all the cruel people and systems causing us to suffer, holding us down, dooming us,

and I do want to be better, kinder, I just don’t have any hope and nowhere to put all this anger and hopelessness and misery, and I can’t afford ADHD treatment so…yeah. I’m not proud of my little vice/outlet, I suppose.

Anyway my point is, you’ve been lovely to talk to, thank you for reminding me that some people are genuinely lovely. I most certainly don’t deserve it, haha.

Anyway, from here in Manchester England, have a grand day 👋

Oh my, no. This is like a list of the worst things for me.

I can’t concentrate on something if they’re are voices in the background, my brain forces me to focus on the voices, I can’t tune them out to focus on my main task.

So when I’m working, music helps me focus a little, but it MUST not have vocals. No-Vocals Vaporwave/Synthwave is my jam.

I could never watch two films at the same time, or have a podcast on while I’m trying to watch a film, etc, I hate distractions and background noises while I’m trying to focus on a film.

If I tried to watch two films at once… my brain would just be overwhelmed and I’d be able to watch neither.

I also hate noise in general and cherish blissful silence, so while I do run a fan when it gets very hot, I do my best to avoid it.

Quiet silence is best, the more things like noise assault my senses the more I feel oppressed in my own brain.

  • That’s not a bad thing, we all come to new things not understanding them at first, especially topics that we don’t get a good grasp on until we’re into adulthood and no longer have a structured education system to guide us. Subjects like politics, economics, sociology etc.

We all come to these daunting subjects with various levels of knowledge and ability, all we can do is try to dip our toes in to a subject that feels important to understand, get reading, watching videos, whatever works best for you, and go from there :-)

donald tr*mp gets 10 warnings for intimidating witnesses and indefinite trial postponement for hoarding and most likely leaking classified documents. Sweet sweet justice.

Why are you censoring Donald Trump’s name? Is it a swear word now in your country?

We’re big girls here, we can take a little rude language, don’t worry :)

  • Wallet…app?

My wallet is in my pocket, it’s got some cash, my cards, a plaster in case someone gets a cut, a clothes pin in case a button fails, and a spare hayfever tablet.

How am I going to pay for things in person using my phone - which is mostly the point of a wallet - if my phone battery is dead, or I don’t have any data left for internet usage, or my phone crashes, or the app stops working, etc?

And why would I even have to pull my phone out at all, and risk it being snatched and stolen by a passing thief if I’ve got a perfectly functional debit card and cash in my actual wallet, which I don’t mind having stolen anywhere near as much…

  • Yeah, it does a fab job of giving me playlists in each of the moods/genres/decades I tend to listen to most, giving me a mix of tracks I know and stuff I can discover. I’ve found sooo much new music I love that way!

The AI voiced DJ is fun too, it’s surprising how psychologically satisfying it is to have a personal lil DJ, even when it’s basically just generating those same playlists under the hood, with a few tweaks.

I’m glad there are offline/open source solutions people are posting of course, I don’t want Spotify to ever be the only choice or some kinda monopoly. But yeah, if you’re happy using a service like that and spending a reasonable amount on a subscription, it’s fantastic :-)
