I grew up in an extremely rural area, but the people that were around were incredibly kind and accepting, especially to others that were different. Now I’m raising my kid in the biggest city in the world, but with the same values they taught me. So I’d say it’s not so much the place, as it is the environment we create there. I specifically didn’t say that. On one side we have murderers, rapists, child molesters, liars, and everything else, and on the other we have people convicted for committing murder, rape, child molestation, lying, and everything else. If it’s all one big shit show, why are they put together at all?

I thought it was obvious I was speaking of the overall general problem, not to this case specifically. So the be clear, in the general sense when a report is made, neither side is particularly trustworthy. It’s a criminal’s word vs the member of a corrupt gang, so it’s hard to know who to believe. So ideally we should have a system with checks to ensure this isn’t even a possibility.

This is a really hard one in my opinion. On the one hand, no one should ever have to suffer that and anyone who does it should be removed from their position immediately and prosecuted fully. On the other hand, the ones claiming to be sexually assaulted are hardly the best people themselves, so you have to take their stories with a fair amount of salt.

The obvious solution is security and body cameras everywhere monitored by an independent 3rd party, along with additional protections so that guards and prisoners of different sexes aren’t (or rarely) together, but we all know that’s never gonna happen 😑

People who say PHP is shit haven’t really used it and are just repeating the memes. It’s a perfectly fine language and there are a number of excellent tools and frameworks for it. It’s reputation is a result of it’s easy entry and widespread use. A whole lot of people who knew just enough to be dangerous made a whole lot of stuff, and it ended up causing a whole lot of problems. But for some reason devs shit on the language instead of shitting on the devs who put them in a mess.

Yeah, they are literally adapting Frieren panel by panel, line by line. The only difference is the animation is top notch with even the small details, and the voice acting is hitting it out of the park. At this point I think it’s safe to say the anime is the definitive version.

Spy x Family is basically just a sitcom, after the initial setup there really wasn’t much overall story or character growth. That’s totally fine, but it’s not really going to generate a lot of buzz each week.

The only one that might have a legitimate argument is Freddy. He was burned to death by a vigilante mob after being “cleared” by the justice system. So one could understand his need for revenge. (Just ignore the fact that he really was a child killer and only got off on a technicality)

Meh, whatever. Even if the fediverse were to never get any bigger, it’s still a win. This place is big enough to be stable and generate it’s own content and culture. All that matters is if you’re enjoying it here and actively trying to make it a better place.
