OP is literally saying they want less life… I wouldn’t consider an artificially manicured patch of grass to be much life anyway. The overgrown druid land OP describes sounds much better to me
Why not just fill it with gravel, put a few planters in if you still want some vegetation and then move on?
This says nothing about Saudi Arabia deliberately ending the deal or wanting to opt-out, as OP’s article implies. At best, they’re saying the deal reached some natural expiration date. There have been no public comments either way to suggest that the deal has expired, anything out of the ordinary has happened or that it will not be renewed if this is the case.
More importantly, this is an opinion piece on the stock tip section of a website that is notably not a news agency. If this were true, it would represent a massive Geo-political shift and would have been widely reported by now.
This story is nonsense.
No news agencies are reporting on this and I can’t find another source for what would be one of the most consequential stories in the world if it were true
They have 2 robots so far. I believe they can make it to 5 by next year and the other 995 will just be people in spandex suits like the first time he announced these things
They actually know a lot of stuff is harmless but it’s Security Theatre that was meant to make people feel better about flying after 9/11
They’ve already got you if you’ve been to an airport and, depending on where you live, protest, large sporting event or just walked down a street with CCTV cameras
Controversial opinion: I see more recycled content on Lemmy than Reddit. Comments are usually far better here, but it’s an unavoidable reality that there are less people generating new content here. Especially for niche communities.
Hop on over to the niche communities about movies or particular subgenres and they’re either dead or recycling stuff. Go to those same niche communities on Reddit and you’ll see lots of fresh content all the time. Maybe the main feeds are comparable but if you’re into anything niche that isn’t computing, privacy, politics or gaming, Lemmy can get a bit stale.
Pick a major to prove someone wrong and you’ll never work a day in your life
This is giving me a headache
This was a fascinating read
Sometimes you need a little laugh when you’re in mourning. People wearing ridiculous shit is actually a thing that helps
Africa: Liberates itself from imperialist colonisation in the decades after after WWII
USA: Takes advantage of the post-war European Imperialist vacuum to go and do some imperialism for itself in Latin America, Asia and later the Middle-East

You still get a lot of the old ‘android is for poor people’ narrative. Age and sub-culture also play a part.
Drake, one of the most commercially successful musicians in the past 15 years, released a song where he says he wouldn’t answer a call from a woman because she was calling him from an android.
That song came out just 6 months ago (Oct 2023) and was number one on the charts. A ton of young people will have heard that and been influenced on some level by it, so the Apple fanboy/android hater thing probably won’t be going away any time soon

The past decade has given us the start of a really misleading children’s ABC book
I think there’s some truth to being afraid to give up. But I can’t see myself in any other industry, and I am proud of my work whenever I see it in production/being used irl. So that makes me think I’d always enjoy being involved with building stuff in some way.
In response to your last question, it might be both. I think my current job is a push factor, and the new field is a pull factor. As other commenters have rightly pointed out, I’m not enjoying my job. I don’t know if that means it’s wrong to recognise the signs that I might not be as motivated as I should be, though.
What else do you think would be helpful to know?
