It can be a pretty big financial undertaking to uproot your life and move to another state. Not everyone has the savings to do that without severe risk to their basic needs.
Also it can be emotionally challenging to move away from your friends/family.
In a representative democracy, the people being responsible for their government is kind of the point.
This. I started my career with 0 experience and an unrelated degree. I found an employer who saw I knew at least a little bit and hired me entry level. It wasn’t the job I wanted, but it got me in the door, and that’s the hardest part IMO. From there, you find opportunities to demonstrate your skill/knowledge and gun for promotions and raises whenever you can.
I’d bet the locally owned coffee shop is operated by the owner and maybe a few other employees. Not really much of an opportunity to unionize there.
The wealthy and the powerful will be the last to suffer the negative effects of climate change.
