The default messaging apps on iPhone is iMessage. It’s locked down and can not communicate with any other messaging app except via SMS. Therefore the other apps have to use it to communicate with iPhone users, who you will never, ever convince to download a third party messaging app

One other thing is that none of the third party messaging apps can even use SMS. iOS is designed so that only Apple can use SMS.

You could just use the system print dialog instead of Firefox’s if that works better for you, I think it’s possible to set it as default.

The push to live services, online DRM, microtransactions, DLC and other such things is because they have identified that there is more money to be made as a ‘server operator’ than a ‘game developer.’

Hamas fighters who burst into Israel on October 7th and killed almost 1,200 Israelis (and other nationalities) were carrying out the letter of their genocidal law.

This doesn’t seem like it would take a lot of research but it might be the first time I’ve heard about this charter.

You’d download apps or music onto your PC and then ‘sideload’ them onto your PDA or MP3 players.
Sometimes this required both proprietary cables and software. (This is why some of us still get excited by simple USB ports)

a word for such things is ‘dark patterns’
it’s not designed to be liked but to keep the player returning habitually and upping so called “retention.”

I don’t think they ever charged anybody, they suspended that idea after the first outage.

Also, they were using their own fleet of Macs, hence why Apple was able to isolate them easily if they’re all centrally located.

If you want the in-depth customization that only flashing from the boot loader level allows, you’ll want to prioritize phones that allow that.

Pixel is usually on the top of most people’s heads because even if other phones can have their boot loader unlocked, actual support is a crap shoot.

It’s mostly up to which manufacturers allow boot loader unlocking.

The pixels are somewhat a continuation of the nexus line which were more developer centric.

You can run Windows on the Steam Deck but I’d argue you also introduce a bunch of new problems.
