Games@sh.itjust.works•HELLDIVERS 2 Tech Blog #2 - Opt-in install size reduction beta (from 154Gb to 23Gb)English
10·3 months agoIn the case of Mario it’s a smart way of handling the limited data available, its not a duplicate texture like Helldivers, its the same cloud copy pasted just with a different color.
From what I understand Helldivers had the same files duplicated multiple times so that HDD could find them easily (somehow)
I remember using cheatcodes to unlock cards in Yu Gi Oh Dark Duel Series, those were fun
Nowadays I dont feel the need to, games I play are fun enough out of the box, sometimes I might look up what to do if I’m stuck
INVEST
Needs some ai in there

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's your favourite story from history that is actually false or exaggerated?
28·4 months agoMarie Antoinette saying let them eat bread or something
From her point of view it sounds incredibly based, it would probably have just been ignorance though. I’m still glad she died because of that patronising comment that she kind of didn’t actually say

21·4 months agoThis is yet another ban evasion alt account of user Dwazou, this time just straight up doing misinformation (for whatever political agenda they have) by only highlighting two candidates out of the current seven.

3·4 months agoi think Cozy Grove (https://store.steampowered.com/app/1458100/Cozy_Grove/) might be interesting for you, it’s basically Animal Crossing but with bears, and its designed so you can only make a max amount of progress per day, so no addiction
trying to think of other games, I’ll update this comment if I find more!

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•People who prepared costumes for Halloween: how much money/effort did you put in it?
20·4 months agoNot a costume, but I made a ghost, we have a tree trunk in front of the house, I put one of those round metal plates upside down on it, white bath towel, cut dark red paper for eyes and mouth, attached them with pins, and a candle in an jelly pot on the ground
Sounds fancy? Looks like shit but I love it LOL

Games@lemmy.world•Over 47% of Stop Killing Games Signatures Have Already Been VerifiedEnglish
19·4 months agoTo answer your questions: this is posted in [email protected] because this specific petition relates to the interests of this specific Lemmy community, this does not mean it’s “so important”, or that it’s a priority, it’s just one of the many topics the users that frequent this community are interested about.
On the topic of other petitions, there are actually a lot of different petitions by European Citizen, that are available on the website dedicated to it: https://citizens-initiative.europa.eu/. For example, there are two other petitions that are at the same stage of the Stop Killing Games petition (they’re in the process of verification). One calls for a ban on conversion therapies, which are discriminatory and harmful towards LGBTQ+ citizen, the other calls to “Stop Extremism” within the European Union, but is rather vague about what it’s about.
The “My Voice, My Choice: For Safe And Accessible Abortion” was verified as “Valid Initiative” on September of this year, and on the 1st of October, its representatives met with Hadja Lahbib, European Commissioner for Equality, and European Commissioner for Preparedness and Crisis Management to discuss it, they will later have the opportunity to present it publicly to Parliament Members, which may hold a dedicated debate session. So far there’s been 11 “Answered Initiatives” of varying subjects (this means the parliament debated on it, and reached a conclusion, and made a statement, you can learn more about the process here: https://citizens-initiative.europa.eu/how-it-works_en).
It’s a great system that’s underused in my opinion (lots of reasons for it but that’s another subject matter). If you’re a European Citizen and feel like there are topics you would like to bring to the European Parliament, I highly encourage you to create one and fight for what you believe is important!

Games@sh.itjust.works•Should a PvPvE game have to offer a PvE-only mode?English
2·5 months agoTheir initial switch from a pve only game was motivated by data and metrics that showed them it was a better choice to make an extraction shooter (they said themselves somewhere that the game just wasn’t fun). I trust they made the right call, so I would say a pve only mode in Arc Raiders would dillute the tension of each round played.
That being said, I’m also very risk averse, so I dislike the pvp part of the game. While I think its a necessary part of the gameplay, and that it brings awesome uncertainty and adrenaline, I think Embark should try and create incentives for more cooperation between players, encourage pvp as a conscious, intended, risky choice rather than a reasonable option when encountering other players.
From Tech Test 2 to the current Server Slam, they’ve apparently buffed the robots/arc enemies strength, I think that’s a step in the right direction, even if I haven’t personally noticed a change 🤷♀️
