  • Free and fair elections,

Manipulated by advertising, marketing and propaganda paid by the wealthiest contributors to influence the population. Creating an environment where money and wealth get to decide who gets elected.

    rule of law,

That can be side stepped, controlled or manipulated by those with wealth and used as a weapon against those with little or no money

    stable governmental institutions,

That are heavily lobbied, influenced and controlled by those with wealth or corporations and seldom represent the actual will of the people

    individual freedoms,

Which are constantly challenged or questioned by those with power in an effort to control and manipulate everyone into conforming into inequalitable classes of people.

and a free and independent press.

My favorite on this list … free and independent press which are all owned and controlled by the wealthiest billionaires or corporations who allow their media to speak freely as long as they don’t affect their bottom line.

  • This is what I mean … the choice is either an average politician or an old wing nut orange man … but the choices are so difficult for Americans to decide that many choose neither and never think that they are instead paving the way for the wannabe fascist.

I can’t believe that the fate of the world hinges on the deranged decisions of a completely confused people. As much as I don’t want to admit that America has so much influence, they do have literal control over much of the world and they do have the largest most powerful military at the moment. So whoever gets to be leader will set the stage for the stability or instability of the world in the next few years. And it’s all riding on ill informed choices of a very ill informed population.

  • More like how America and the American establishment just allow idiots like this to take center stage and let them abuse the country without anyone saying or doing much about it.

I got tired of calling out lunatics a while ago … I’m more concerned about a country full of people that just allow all this stupidity to represent their government and leadership.

I’m not calling for a revolution … just for more US citizens to speak up and tell everyone how much they don’t like this or support this. All I hear are the lunatics and never the people they are supposedly representing.

As an indigenous Canadian I can confirm this.

Both of my parents were born and raised in the wilderness. I don’t mean that they were born in a modern hospital and later raised in the bush. They were born in the 40s in a teepee with the help of traditional midwives.

Dad was a great hunter and trapper and did all the things you could imagine a hunter and gatherer could do.

Mom did the same as well, not as much or as well as dad but good enough to survive on her own or with children. She hunted birds, fished and could bring down gut clean prepare butcher moose, caribou, bear, wolf, lynx and any other large animal if she had to … when she was a young woman that is. She could also travel, walk, snowshoe, use dog team, paddle a canoe, portage, sail, and survive alone in the bush for weeks or months on her own. In her prime, she was a far better hunter and gatherer than most men I know now including myself.

It only makes sense … prehistoric hunters and gatherers didn’t sit around and relegate women to only do certain things. Everyone no matter what gender had to be capable of doing everything in order to ensure and secure the survival of everyone.

No, no … don’t worry about it. It’s a condition called Pulmonary Fibrosis and it is actually rare-ish

It’s also not tied to any one fungus, virus, bacteria or whatever. It’s just a chance infection of whatever kind that invades your lung system, and causes a run-away reaction with your immune system. The infection turns on the immune system and for whatever reason, the immune system goes haywire and can’t turn itself off so it just keeps attacking even after the original infection is gone. It’s common in the lungs because when you think about it and study it, the lungs and lung tissue are very delicate and intricate biology that exists in a very narrow balance between being healthy and abnormal. As soon as you upset that balance, its either very difficult or impossible to get it back.

Infections like this can be caused by colds and flus but also from funguses and mold and dust spores. A well known condition is called ‘Pigeon Lung’ from pigeon breeders who breathe in a lot of dust from pigeon droppings.

I have a doctor friend who warned me years ago … ‘do your best to avoid colds, flus, viruses and bacterial infections’ … even if you are fit and healthy and young. Every infection in your lungs is a lottery and if you get lucky and get infected with something that screws up your system, it will affect your life forever.

My wife got infected with a viral infection on a trip to Morocco about six years ago. We both got sick with it. It was bad but not that bad. I got over it but she just never stopped coughing. A year later she was still coughing and we looked into it and she had lung scarring. The doctors then told us all about these conditions and now she has Pulmonary Fibrosis. She is perpetually coughing, she lives with it but it is a constant worry we have to live with now.

So next time you go out in public remember that any flu, cold, covid, virus, whatever is a lottery that can screw with your life.

  • It actually escalates over months or years … my wife had it and since then we’ve learned that any lung infection you get - fungal, bacterial, viral, chemical, mineral - is all like playing a disease lottery. Chances are pretty high for everyone to not get anything and no after effects when you recover. However every once in a while, you get lucky and whatever infection completely screws the immune response in your lungs and it turns into a permanent infection. When that happens, it may or may not be the original infection but it could just be your own immune system that has just lost balance and is now fighting against your own body. Whatever it is, it causes permanent scarring and the scarring grows over time until you lose the ability to breathe and drown to death.

All because of a chance infection in an unlucky lottery you happen to win.
