Almost like we should focus on making the US better / competitive instead of trying to succeed by blocking others.
Don’t we get a ton of components and raw materials required for EVs from China already?

I’m lucky enough to not have to drive my fun car in inclimate weather which for sure includes winter.
My truck has all seasons but is 4wd so it’s ok. We do not live where the roads get/stayed covered in snow so there’s not a huge need for seasonal tires unless your using high performance tires that suck below 50°f
But 100% if you live where snow/ice is on the road for a large portion of winter, winter ties make a difference.
I removed my account a few years ago when they moved a bunch of features behind their paywall. I’m perfectly fine just using Garmin’s built in ‘news feed’ and tracking without giving my data to another company.
I made the decision to block it a while ago so I don’t visit it. In fact, it’s blocked at the DNS level inside my house right or wrong. Wish I could laser in on YT Shorts / FB reels to cut/block them. I wish as a paying customer of YT I could disable shorts from my feed longer than 30 days.
I watch a TON of longer form YT, and while, of course, there is algorithm in play here, I have 100s of subscriptions and mostly watch those channels exclusively. I branch out when I’m just filling time mindlessly or the available content is watched with my wife and she’s not here etc…
I’m sure I blocked tiktok when it was only short form. I also did it so my son couldn’t get to it. Until he got an iPhone he was completely prevented from installing/visiting it. My wife now controls this parental bits (as a fellow drone… Err, iPhone user), and while the app is not allowed on his phone, I’m not sure if he can get to it via the browser.
I’m old(ish) so maybe I’m out of touch but I don’t see anything good from any short form video. Tiktok, YT shorts whatever. I hate them all.
It’s like we’re trying to train people to have ADD.
I listen to a podcast that is generally quite opposite of my political alignment, but I usually find it entertaining. One thing these guys believe or at least discuss quite often is that Biden is being given drugs at certain times to “kick start” him for things like the SOTU. So, I don’t believe this is anything new.
I assumed that by the name I just wasn’t aware they were two pieces.
I think while tasca has good prices on the actual parts, their shipping costs make them nearly as much as going to the dealer. (At least that’s been my experience with my Ford)
I’m honestly not sure what a plug boot is. What I’ve seen is for the coil -on-plug style they’re one piece and no need to replace unless one dies and even then you just replace the bad one. The connectors on them can also have goofy locking connectors that are likely easy to break so just pay attention.
A torque wrench that will work with those small valve cover bolts will be a 3/8" one and be able to measure inch lbs. (Aka small values).
While this isn’t a foolproof tip, if you call AutoZone, or Acura and ask if they have plug boots for your car and they say no that would be at least a decent indicator they’re not normal maintenance items. Use that forum to search and see what they are if people are changing them.
Don’t be afraid to try this if you can follow basic instructions. Cars are pretty stout and unless you do something crazy this should go fine.
I would guess you can find some good YouTube videos that will walk through he specific steps/process for your car. Or a car forum/FB group to search any specific issues changing valve covers. Generally this is a pretty straightforward job.
I have no idea what maintenance has been done previously etc. But if it has plug wires might consider changing them as well, however a lot of cars today have coils right on the plugs so no maintenance needed if yours is like that.
Realize the small bolts holding the valve cover on will not take a ton of force to tighten. They’re small bolts going into small holes. Pay attention to how tight they are when taking them off if you don’t plan to use a torque wrench to tighten them. Make them snug not crazy tight.
Hope it stays that way.
There’s all kinds of people being born every day, growing up and becoming self hosting unRAID users. Meanwhile current license holders are growing older and dying off.
How is continuing to charge for new people to get into unRAID unsustainable? If it’s worked this long but isn’t now then increase the prices, or watch your overhead.
I’m here until my pro license starts costing me again. If that happens, I’ll likely jump just like I have done with other products I paid for that changed our original agreement.
I should probably do a walk through and wipe out ones I’m not going to reuse. But I’d say most of them will likely be used again. I will say that when I had a charge I couldn’t figure out what it was the person at Capitol One said a LOT of people deactivate the virtual cards unless they plan to use them lowering the chance of a charge.
Capital one (CC) has eno, which is virtual cards. I create a new one for every website… Works good. Every now and then someone will change how they charge (name) and break the virtual card. I’ve got well over 100 virtual cards.
I wear a Garmin Fenix 6X Pro Solar, which is a large watch with pretty incredible battery life. I can run outside (aka GPS) 5x a week and it still lasts 10 days between charges.
I got the Pixel watch 2 as part of the Pixel 8 pro deal, tried selling it unopened for a while but after Christmas I opened it to try it out. I really loved all the smart features above and beyond my Garmin. My Fenix gets notifications and can do simple (preconfigured) replies to msgs, but that’s it. So the Pixel watch’s “smarts” were cool. but the rest is bleh…

I didn’t hit Reddit until Digg’s problems started up, but those, like these now here, where the good 'ol days :)
It 100% brought me here. Didn’t know what Lemmy was until the chaos over there. ultimately deleted my account never looked back. And that was a lot of eyeball time they lost from me.
We’re missing the overall mass of people that both generate new, and answer questions on the content that was there, but I’m OK with that and I actually get better engagement here with those missing mass of people. I’m sure there’s a point of more is not better when it comes to users.
Certainly not a priority, but Ford still has to meet certain standards that as I understand it keeps getting tougher.
Yikes… And not that there’s anything happening over there but…
I own a 2016 :)
haha, ya… Such well placed money there.
