15·3 months agoAmazon web services. They are one of the biggest providers for hosting things. A lot of the internet infrastructure uses aws.
I hate to break it to you but in many parts of the rural US, Walmart is the only option to buy things. They have monopolized and killed small grocers, mechanics, and pharmacies. Walmart is the only place within a reasonable distance that I can get my (lifesaving) medication for a cost that I can afford. I hate doing it but there is literally no other option for me.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Why is Lemmy so US-centric? The largest instances are in Europe, aren't they? So why does it have to be US news trolling as if it were Reddit?
6·6 months agoIt makes a whole lot of sense the other way around. Script writers speak like Americans.

9·7 months agoMore Frutiger Aero photos because I can’t stop thinking about how beautiful it is:

One thing about it is that it ain’t the most homely of aesthetics and architectures. It’s almost always in the context of a workplace, airport, shopping center, etc. In an ideal world I’d live in a mid century modern house and work in a frutiger aero workplace.
Edit: just found this really cool website https://frutigeraeroarchive.org/

4·7 months agoYeah, one thing that I’m not a fan of with some of the pictures that I selected is all the white. I like it better when there’s other colors and white is just the accent.

20·7 months agoFrutiger Aero. This is what the future should have looked like. It’s a beautiful balance between nature and technology. I love the glossy, transpartent, rounded nature of it all. The colors are bright and fresh but relaxing at the same time.

I’m also a big fan of mid century modern. It does a good job at incorporating a natural look. On the outside, the buildings are usually low profile and blend into the landscape well. On the inside, there’s a lot of nice, quality natural materials like wood and stone that are used throughout.
