Honestly I thought it was an abbreviation for “for example” and probably used it one gazillion times 😅 now that I google it it seems like “e.g.” is what I was going for.

Idk which third party apps are compliant which aren’t? There is this one feg: https://f-droid.org/packages/it.belloworld.mercurygram/ Unlocks the premium app icons for free. https://f-droid.org/packages/nekox.messenger/ This one surely has a few premium features no? Unlimited accounts feg?
Personally I just use Telegramm-FOSS since years. Not sure what the actual differences to official client are at the moment, but this one is just fine and I’m never annoyed by premium feature ads like it seems to be the case for you.
I highly doubt that F-Droid team removes third party telegramm apps when they are against tos of telegramm. They are actually out there defending our freedom, even and especially when proprietary services do not want us to use Foss third party apps. Google does not want you to use third party apps for their services. F-Droid still out there publishing foss YouTube clients. Give them some credit instead of just assuming they suck up to big companies.
A little niche, but I am really happy with solusos! It’s a small distro, so software availability is the biggest issue imo. But if what you need is available it beats every other distro out there for casual desktop use!
Imo dual boot can lead to issues if you got both os on one drive. In this configuration Windows tends to mess with the Linux partitions. But I never had any issues with one os per drive.
How can one “not get a good Android tablet”? You just… get one?
The government is forcing the people to pay for the public broadcasting. That’s why they are inherently dependant on the government. Something that’s literally funded by the government can not be independent from the government.
I’m living in Germany actually. Don’t get me wrong, I like the ÖRR as alternative to private media. But to say it’s independent from the government is really naive.
Those are not independent, those depend on the state securing their finances.
What’s that?
Because the tax payer would then pay for the insurance instead, and of course this would be priced in a way that the insurance company makes a profit in the end, so the taxpayer would end up paying more.
Everyone take a step back and take a deep breath. Now, do you really believe elon removed an emoji from the built-in keyboard of your smartphone?
What, related nonprofit that can not legally fund Firefox development? What are you talking about? It’s literally developed by them.
Mozilla Firefox, or simply Firefox, is a free and open-source web browser developed by the Mozilla Foundation and its subsidiary, the Mozilla Corporation.
No. Everyone can use Signal technology for free in their own products. They are not selling it to anyone. Yes, some time ago moxie helped to integrate their encryption algorithm in WhatsApp and that’s that. Very likely that he / the foundation got paid for that service, but it’s not like Signal is funded by selling their technology to anyone. And for sure it’s not like they can’t match WhatsApp features because then WhatsApp would go down the river and they run out of funding…
I don’t know what to say but stuff like this makes me kinda angry. You read about moxie helping implement their encryption in WhatsApp at one point, and then came up with this story that Signal is somehow mainly funded by meta and Microsoft and can’t compete with their products because it would put ms and meta out of business and endanger their own funding this way. Like, please don’t make up stories like that, OK? It’s not a nice thing to do.
If you are really interested here are some actual facts on the matter:
On February 21, 2018, Moxie Marlinspike and WhatsApp co-founder Brian Acton announced the formation of the Signal Foundation, a 501©(3) nonprofit organization. The foundation was started with an initial $50 million loan from Acton, who had left WhatsApp’s parent company, Facebook, in September 2017. The Freedom of the Press Foundation had previously served as the Signal project’s fiscal sponsor and continued to accept donations on behalf of the project while the foundation’s non-profit status was pending. By the end of 2018, the loan had increased to $105,000,400, which is due to be repaid on February 28, 2068. The loan is unsecured and at 0% interest.
