It’s amazing how social norms have changed.

I’ve got a two year old, who drives me absolutely insane sometimes. I think if I grew up in my parents culture, where it was acceptable to smack kids or shout at them, I probably would.

That’s a horrible thing to say, but I’m glad I’m aware of the fact that it’s counter-productive. I’m almost jealous of my child, to know they’ve got someone like me as a father, as opposed to my father.

I remember being stubborn, being proved wrong, continuing to be stubborn, and being proved wrong even harder, in front of others.

It’s such a pathetic and embarrassing feeling to be that wrong.

I don’t want to be wrong a moment longer than I need to be.

There’s no shame in being corrected, but there is in holding on to shit ideas.

  • Fun story for y’all.

I used to drink a lot of milk. I was a constipated teen. I took a shit one day, and to say it was anything short of awe aspiring wouldn’t do it justice. This thing was one solid thick rod sticking out of the water.

I called my stepdad to check it out. Naturally, he was so surprised he had to tell Mum to come over. A few minutes later we’ve got a whole family of six in a bathroom admiring my turd.

My stepdad claims to have uploaded it to ratemypoo .com (don’t bother going there, the site takes you to ratemypussy .com).

This day I learned our family was not normal.

The problem doesn’t stem from their critical thinking skills, but rather, a combination of indoctrination and religious beliefs which cause a series of presuppositions to supersede the conclusions the rest of us have taken as presuppositions.

In some sense I admire their dedication to challenge established facts about reality, that should be done in general.

To clarify the statement about indoctrination and religion: many people are not aware that flat earthers are religious wackjobs. Their thought process is as follows:

“If the universe contains trillions of celestial bodies and they’re all spherical, then we are inconsequential. It must be the case that we are special, and earth is not a sphere, but is flat.”

Some flat earthers will claim space doesn’t exist, even though their bible tells them God created other planets.
