This seems like a fun way to create new creatures. Take existing skeletons and just try to plop on flesh in unique ways.
He’s had some really shitty vetos of bills that had widespread support. He’s not the absolute worst, but he definitely is a very “traditional” dem, which everyone is pretty tired of nowadays.
if I fuck it up, it doesn’t spill over into other tasks
Somebody has never accidentally spilled the entire litter box onto the floor.
Sorry, but this sounds exactly like what male privilege is. Assuming that it doesn’t happen near you because you haven’t noticed it.
Ask your female friends what sorts of sexism they genuinely face regularly and I think you’ll learn a lot.
TheSambassador@lemmy.worldto Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Discord going public. Plz help a future refugee.English13·4 months agoCalls and easily sharing my screen are 90% of my use cases for Discord. The entire appeal of it initially was that it was a more functional Ventrilo with both text and voice channels. Hopefully something FOSS gets further developed by the time Discord completely shits the bed.
3rd party can’t really gain power with first past the post. We have to implement ranked choice or approval voting before meaningful 3rd party choices are viable.
You’re right, if you alone can’t fix everything, there’s really no point to trying.

It also seemed to imply that there was more information coming, but I don’t really get why he hasn’t released everything yet.

You don’t think that’s at least a LITTLE bit fascist? Did you even read any of it?

There is no reason to display “100%” in your UI for more than a single second. Either show 99% and then finish, or show 100% only when you are ACTUALLY done and only show it for a little.
If you’re still doing ANYTHING AT ALL don’t say you’re 100% complete. How is it still like this
TheSambassador@lemmy.worldto Programming@programming.dev•Oracle Java police start knocking on Fortune 200's doors for first timeEnglish1·1 year agoSo a lot of Java hate I think is mostly in jest.
Personally, Java was the programming language that I had to use for my first two years of college. It’s how I learned OOP, data structures, and algorithms. I had to use Eclipse, which at the time was AWFUL (and maybe still is, no idea). I remember it being semi-normal for it to take over a minute to launch on my (gaming) PC.
Later on, as I learned other languages and got a job, I just haven’t really had a reason to go back to Java, and most of my memories of it are from being annoyed at Eclipse and needing to implement Quicksort in it. I’m sure it’s a great language and I bet it’s a lot better and more convenient now. It’s just kinda trendy and weirdly nostalgic to hate on it in a half-serious way :) .
TheSambassador@lemmy.worldto Programming@programming.dev•Oracle Java police start knocking on Fortune 200's doors for first timeEnglish30·1 year agoJava has a lot of advantages, but that’s a crazy statement. I feel like literally everyone complains about basic stuff like public static void main, over reliance on factories and OOP, and just how much code you need to generate for some basic stuff. I’m not a Java hater, but I am glad I don’t have to use it anymore.
TheSambassador@lemmy.worldto Autism@lemmy.world•Why are neurotypicals in charge of making up the social rules? They're not even very good at it.English5·1 year ago“Sure” to me is fairly neutral, emotionally. If someone invites you to something, usually they’re hoping that you will be excited to go, not just willing to go. If you respond with a neutral-sounding “yes” instead of something more enthusiastic, it makes me wonder if you actually want to go.
Overall, your tone of voice when saying “sure” could communicate that enthusiasm to go, but that doesn’t really work over text, so I usually try to be a lot more enthusiastic over text communication.
It’s an awesome little device! You’ve got plenty of games to work through, but if you feel like trying a side loaded one, give my game Pogo Arc a try: https://thesambassador.itch.io/pogo-arc
It’s not a full dedicated gaming console that you’re spending hours and hours playing. It’s a toy that’s great for quick sessions and it’s really fun to develop games for. It’s very well made and the software is great.
It’s not a fair comparison to existing handhelds. It’s niche, and definitely not for everyone. Personally, I love it and think it’s just a unique toy that’s fun to show people. If you’d need to get X hours of gameplay to make it “worth” it to you, it probably isn’t your style.
It’s an enthusiast device. As a gamedev myself, it’s super fun to make little games for, and then you can easily show your friends/family. The limitations and unique input (the crank) lead to some awesome and interesting games.
I don’t really view it as a serious gaming device. It’s great for 5-20 minute sessions but it is basically a toy. I think if you’re interested in experimental indie games, it’s a great little device that’s absolutely worth it. It shouldn’t be directly compared to a “normal” game console because, frankly, it isn’t.
The first 5-7 days off meds are the worst. It gets better after a little bit, but I’m pretty worthless for the entire time and definitely irritable. Ride it out, it’ll get better!
