  • Unless you hear him pronouncing it with a hard G, I don’t know how you can hear college. It ends with a hard sound (voiced plosvie).

To me it actually sounds like co-ed because there’s definitely a c/k at the start and d at the end, and a blustering moron’s mouth noises in the middle, but I don’t see how they get from that to college and I do see how you get from that to coloured. Why he wouldn’t own “co-ed” I don’t know because sounding like a behind the times old white dude is very much their brand

  • So just to be clear, because there is a situation where literal fascists might win (which you believe is bad… right?), you feel aggrieved at the not-actual-fascists for this scenario arising. Which is understandable! As a person in a country that is a real democratic republic, I would hate for the less-bad option to be able hold my vote hostage or be punished for a third party vote.

But to follow the logic then that as a result you are motivated to let literal fascists win (which is… bad?)…

To what end? To see the establishment DNC face another humiliation, which will make you feel very vindicated for 3 months… before an actual fascist assumes more power than any American president has ever had before?.. To destroy the capitalist American empire with the expectation that the American people will forget 100 years of propaganda and suddenly realise collectivism is the way to go?

  • The same reputation extends to Windows too so I don’t think it’s a Linux specific issue.

I like the UX as it’s pretty powerful but I’m mindful of being ancient and having spent nearly a decade working with arcane telco applications. I have the opposite of your complaint - I like that it does periodic checks and will notify you of detected problems and usually give you a button to press to solve it.

My biggest pain usually comes in load order management. Usually this is because this is mentioned nowhere but in a note at the bottom of the mod description that might say something like “near the top” or “after mod x”. I don’t know how Steam just handles this mostly but I have a feeling it might be strong categorisation of mods.

  • I just hate the pathetic effort they put into the quotes. Sean Bean was a weird choice anyway (“what do people universally and forever like? Game Of Thrones I suppose!”) but then they had him read quotes from literal blogs and often quotes that shat all over the technology you’d just researched. Oh! I completed a wonder! I definitely want to hear a quote about how it’s obsolete now and its abandonment caused immense poverty in the Ruhr valley.

That and the movement towards nations instead of, yknow, Civilizations. Sorry Australia, you are not a Civilisation. Nor is Canada. Nor Scotland. How do we have Scotland - an independent country for less than 300 years - and not the fucking Celts.
