I would advise you look in to all of the times where cops let people get hurt because it is not their job to stop it. Most notably the NYC subway stabbing where the police officer locked themselves in the cockpit where it was safe and watched a madman stab another person several times.
I agree that everyone driving is an idiot at fault here, but it is on the police to make the better decision in this situation. They should not be giving chase in a vehicle under any circumstances. Police are not there to stop crime, they are there to investigate and seek justice ( by job description, I know they don’t actually do that). They will even refuse to protect citizens from crime, but when the cop wants to have little fun and give chase them suddenly they think it’s their job. They need to pick a side to stand on.
The officer has the vehicle description and license plate, they should investigate.
The first time I was ever pulled over I asked if I had done something. The cop responded “You’re on an Alberta road, we can pull you over whenever we want!” Then proceeded to check my registration and insurance and let me leave. I was on my way to pick my kids up from school and he even waited until I was in a school zone to pull me over, so when all the other parents drove by they thought I was speeding in a school zone.
ACAB is why it would ever not be the case.
He should have been on a 72 hour hold-and-assess immediately following the incident. Same for anyone who pulls a weapon on unarmed and not aggressive people. Clearly something is broken in someone who resorts to pulling a gun on someone for no reason.
I know… There are 10 dental schools in Canada, the odds of getting in to one to have any work done are almost literally like winning the lottery. I’m sure it’s not much better in the U.S. plus you have to be lucky enough to live near one. The nearest major city to me is 8 hours away. And typically you have to fit within an income threshold, which we don’t as we are a two income household with benefit, albeit benefits that are quite limited.
And rarely available, and far away for most people. Getting in to a dental school for complicated work is like winning the lottery.
If you have a cavity that you can’t afford to deal with go get some clove oil ( yes, I know how people feel about essential oils and I usually agree- but this is legit) and cotton swabs. Soak the swab in the oil to excess and then put the swab in the cavity and squeeze the excess oil into the cavity. This is going to taste like you ate a thousand pounds of cinnamon and your mouth might water- a lot, but clove oil is a dentist approved antiseptic. You have to be careful, it can burn your face skin if you get it anywhere unintended.
I have been slowly losing my teeth over the past decade and am too broke to fix it, so I had to rely on clove oil between being able to afford extractions. It helped a lot. If the oil doesn’t work then the infection is too far gone and you need good antibiotics. They wouldn’t even be able to extract a tooth that bad.
Not surprised at all, and they really need to crack down on the small town cops too. It’s a shit show.

When a person needs a bachelor’s degree to be an administrator or a librarian, but a high school diploma and some vocational education is enough to be given a gun, a badge and the authority that implies, I start to think something might be wrong with the system, not just the people lining up to join it.

If you buy it, live in it. That’s not communism, that’s taking control of a crisis. Feel free to rent out part of the house while you live in it, in fact some places are incentivizing exactly that. But owning multiple homes for profit is the problem, whether it’s by corporations or “mom and pop” landlords. It’s a problem we can and should fix.

Correct, but only one mountain can be climbed at a time. We have more reliable food sources than housing sources right now.
