So, this is gonna sound weird, but I actually find a lot of these bands calming to listen to. I’m autistic, and have a lot of weird sensory issues because of it, so music that’s too simple (a lot of pop or punk or other genres that show up on the radio usually) doesn’t fully grab my attention. Like, there’s not enough happening at once for me to feel immersed in it.

So I’ll end up listening to Power Metal to fall asleep sometimes because I can hear every instrument individually, and my brain switches focus to each one at random times, and it’s stimulating enough that I can be completely distracted from my other senses and calm down. Dragonforce is my go-to because they even have two lead guitarists at the same time.

That said, I do have songs of every genre in my library, and if I do want something slower or simpler, there’s a ton of Metal ballads that aren’t necessarily high energy. Try something like Crimson Day by Avenged Sevenfold, Remembrance Day or Trail of Broken Hearts by Dragonforce, Christmas Truce by Sabaton, or Mother Gaia by Stradivarius.

There’s a lot more examples, but you can certainly have slow, calm metal. I could probably make a decent sized playlist

What do you need help with?

While I can’t relate to not enjoying lyrics in songs, I have an adjacent perspective. I love listening to each instrument on its own, like focusing on each one, but at the same time. Sounds odd, but it’s like if I close my eyes and let the music wash over me, every piece of the song plays as if individually, yet I can hear them all at once, and it is beautiful. Additionally, I like to think of vocals as their own instrument. Less of a separate thing from the instruments and instead just a different one.

This last one probably stems from my love of metal music, since often screaming and/or yelling is put in there, which means several words in a row that don’t have variations in pitch. It’s almost like “vocal percussion” in that sense.

No problem! I would check out Product Farm’s video before you buy anything, as a number of similar products do NOT do a good job at all. I decided on CeraKote because of how hard Sylvania was to find (and it was expensive when I could) but I’ve seen similar products by CeraKote that have had great success, so I took a chance, and it paid off. CeraKote won Project Farm’s video on trim restoration, and I can attest to those results as well.

I’ve heard amazing reviews about the Sylvania one, but could never find it. I bought a Cera-Kote product instead and posted the results on my profile. Still holds up just like when I first did it, to be honest. So far it’s been 7 months I think? Still crystal clear.

IMO, ISO 8601 is better for computers, people working with multiple time zones, or critical logging.

RFC 3339 is better used colloquially, while still remaining unambiguous for the use cases that most people use dates and times in.

Z indicates UTC. Alternatively,

2023-12.12T21:18-05 for time zone as central. The UTC time zone code at the end just tells you where the time is taken from. Usually Z is used since, well, it’s “universal,” but having a +13 or -06 or whatever else brings context, and allows computers to synchronize the string of text into a comparable time for event logs and such.

I will also point out that larger vehicles that fill up the road width more are more prone to causing wrecks in the event of a distracted driver, as it gives less “wiggle room” for the lane, and less time before you enter into the other lane. Given the prevalence of distracted driving these days, that does not strike me as a good thing.

Larger vehicles are also more difficult to see out of properly, by comparison, especially if you are a shorter person. Not to mention the headlights sitting up higher and often times being blindingly bright at night to other drivers.

Additionally, small vehicles have a tendency to be lower cost, which means you get vehicles for much less, not only in the car cost itself, but in fuel costs, oil changes, transmission fluids, tires, and are pretty much guaranteed to be able to be fixed for much less in the event of a non-totaled accident, at equivalent severities.

I personally don’t get motion sickness nearly as bad in cars as in SUVs or trucks, which is a nice bonus for many.

I won’t say big vehicles don’t have their uses, but it astounds me just how much “I want to drive a big car because it feels good” outweighs so many objective benefits there are to smaller, lighter vehicles.
