It can be hard to find fediverse instances and content inside of them. They are working to make things easier to search for on Mastadon. With a little work it could be used with (and between) many things on the fediverse!

the vest is just an elaborate backpack strap system
Arma 3’s lore has a lot of explaining to do
“We did our research!” (flat earthing intensifies)
I’m kidding I see your point
“tRuSt tHe sCieNCe!”
This is a joke of course…well kinda. When science is done well it can change the world. Who would be against that?
I don’t like the phrase because while the process of science seeks to be as factual and unbiased as possible those in the scientific community are still human. They are fallible, corruptible and can do things for their own personal gain or profit. So to me it could mistakenly misunderstood as “trust science blindly”
But “Trust the science that is validated by multiple reputable sources” just doesn’t roll off the tongue as nicely
I got some of my trama from the TV cart! I watched 9/11 on that thing
Like what kind? Believing in higher powers doesn’t have to mean that you don’t belive in evolution/natural adaptation taking place over time.
If it was “God made everything in a few earth days and nothing changed” then yeah I feel you
I have traveled a decent amount. For new places using gps get around works but what’s key for me is building a mental map, especially when walking around on foot.
I’m going to rant a bit bear with me. Have you ever read a book that described a room (“The pub was cozy and small. A well cleaned bar gleamed along the wall to the side and the restroom door was across from it on the other”) only to give direction way later that throws off your mental image (“he took a sharp left and walked to the restroom”)? If it doesn’t match how things looked in your head it can be disorienting to the reader. I hate that feeling and the same thing can happen during navigation.
I make an effort to check maps of a city to get a lay of the land even though I know I have gps to help. I never fully memorise stuff but when I see any landmarks or streets they have some context and I know where it should go on the mental map. Sometimes I might be temporarily unsure of my exact location but I don’t get hopelessly lost.
NBC keeps trying to take down the footage from youtube but it’s out there
What’s the hold up? I’ve heard about the trip extension but not why
You joke (walmart people need their own nature documentary) but if someone ever figured out urban camouflage militaries would pay stupid amounts of money for it
In most places there isn’t one “best” camo because seasons change. For example flecktarn might be the best in summer but when fall and winter makes everything brown Multicam/OCP can become the best choice.
But this map is better than some versions with weird hard to find latterns like Alpenflage, Rhodesian Brushstroke and Finnish M05
Thanks for coming to my TED talk https://sh.itjust.works/c/camouflage
Libraries don’t charge me, that’s the beauty of it. I can exist there with or without a library card. Drink water, use the bathroom, read all day etc. The taxes pay for the maintenance and resources.
Can’t taxes pay for state park maintenance behind the scenes the same way rather than charging at the door? I get they want money from visitors using the park but there’s things like fuel taxes and hotel taxes and campground fees that could pay into that too. I don’t know what the actual fee for entry would be but still I think that having a fee to exist in nature feels kind of dystopian to me idk.
Places like parks and libraries are places where you can expect to go without the expectation of paying money. If I visit as a person from out of town I shouldn’t have to go get a library card to get into a park for free in my opinion.
Don’t get me wrong even if I wouldn’t go there long term Cali is still on the visit list, it’s just a matter of time and opportunity
The more I learn about Cali’s laws and taxes the less I want to live there, which sucks because the landscape can be so beautiful
Then lick up the goo in a pitri dish!
I never knew the fen/bog part! The only reason I knew swamps from marshes is from labeling them in OpenStreetMap
The link worked for me the first time but only once
