It is infuriating to me how often people start explaining the rules without explaining what the actual goals are first. Like, what are we even doing here, start with that, m’kay?

16·7 months agoIt reminded me, very randomly, of quote from a book about urban design and how architectural ideas are introduced and accepted by the public… or not.
From this the “principle of the second man” can be formulated: it is the second man who determines whether the creation of the first man will be carried forward or destroyed…
It was a golden chance and a room full of cowards let it slip.

2·9 months agoI just spun up Wallabag on my server the other day to replace Omnivore. Im going to take a look at this, but does anyone have experience or thoughts on how this compares? I’m not so deep into it yet that I couldn’t switch to Linkwarden if it’s better.
My main uses would be archiving articles and highlighting passages.

5·1 year agoI’m fairly tech savvy, still on my Xr and feel no reason to change. Battery will probably be the deciding factor before anything else.

Nooooo, was just watching Future Imperfect with a friend the other day and when she showed up I was like, “Yaaaay, Nurse Ogawa!” and then found out while cehcking Memory Alpha afterwards that that ep was actually her first appearance. For a character with so little screentime, I always really liked her and wish we’d seen more of her. RIP Patti, we’ll raise a glass in Ten Forward to ye!

Manual ordering of images in albums is an absolute must before I adopt any image management system. It’s wierd to me that seemingly none of the FOSS systems support it (considering that most of us are datahoading control freaks).
