Am I the only one kind of relieved when I loose digital files in a drive failure? Its kind of like a chance to start fresh. Yes I liked having pictures of my dead pets and relatives from 10 years ago but I wasn’t going to ever look at them again. I have my memories and that’s enough. Believe it or not its the opposite for me. I help take care of my elderly parents keep them independent and they both do this. I am compelled to physically take dishes out and rearrange them to reclaim like a second loads worth of wasted space. Some days I’m also tempted to disown them!

I hate to be one of those philosophy bros but make sure you dont mention any spirituality/metaphysics talk within scientific circles especially if just starting out. While the potential science of psychedelics is fantastic, the metaphysical possibilities and questions that arise regarding consciousness when a psychonaut explores the farthest limits current of human cognition are topics that the majority of scientific community distains with an extreme passion.
Lots and lots and lots of hardcore scientific determinist and just plain old athiest who use science as the complete foundation for their world view and convinence themselves that the the only aspects of reality are the ones that can be experimentally falsified and incorporated into a working physical and logical model. They dont have the balls to take a heroic dose of mushrooms and walk around nature for a day, but they’ll sure sneer and judge you hard for voicing any subjective experiences you may have had doing so.

To anyone trying to cope with minor permanent tinnitus know it gets better. When I first realized I had it at 23 I pulled neurotic worrying self pity card, a year later and its just another part of life like that weird occasional ache in your back. I dont notice it 90% of the time and put on a fan or yt video the other 10%. There’s a definite psychological toughness factor to it as you go from “oh man I really really really hope this goes away in a month I dont want this the rest of my life to " oh well could be worse better stop with the loud music and excessive drinking/smoking.”
If I ever have kids of my own I’ll make sure to let them know not to blair shit into their ears for years straight and take hearing protection seriously
