PriorityMotif@lemmy.worldto Linux@lemmy.ml•My computer randomly freezes, but only on my Linux drive. How do I even begin troubleshooting this?3·5 days agoHad the same issue and it was my mouse causing the USB ports to stop working I realized that the clock was still working and it would go into hibernate. Just wouldn’t respond to mouse or kb.
PriorityMotif@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Could the original WWII Willys Jeep be built and sold today?4·6 days agoThere’s no reason to use leaded fuel. Lead was just used as an octane booster. People say that it helps lubricate the valves or whatever, but it’s a myth. You might eventually have issues if you run e10 fuel because that stuff isn’t good for fuel systems in the first place.
They’re built so that they can’t easily be repaired cheaply so that you have to buy a new one. The dealership makes all their money off of predatory financing. They pay mechanics on “flat rate” so there’s a gross incentive to recommend work that isn’t necessary. Then there’s the insurance industry. Then of course police use minor driving infractions to hassle people and generate revenue. The whole industry could just not exist and the world would be better for it. People spend half their salary just to have a car, it’s ridiculous.
After working on them professionally I stopped liking them. I don’t even really like driving anymore. Everything about a car is a scam.

English2·28 days agoI think it may be my phone as I sometimes have similar issues with photo thumbnails if I take them with open camera instead of the stock camera app. Maybe I have a weird screen resolution or something.

PriorityMotif@lemmy.worldOPto Linux@lemmy.ml•I reinstalled because I don't know what I'm doing.1·1 month agoIt’s a ryzen 3400g with 16gb ddr4 ram and a fairly new nvme ssd. Although I do have a really old 1.5tb drive acting as the backup drive. I’ve been looking at cloud backup solutions in case that dies.
PriorityMotif@lemmy.worldOPto Linux@lemmy.ml•I reinstalled because I don't know what I'm doing.4·2 months agoIt was stock Ubuntu. Everything was working fine for a long time. The only thing I can think of is that I was trying to get rdp going last week so I could access my main PC from a thin client in my garage. Maybe I got “hacked”? Otherwise it could be some issue with the PC, a used hp business pc, nothing special. When I first tried to load the fedora image it did the same thing, other recovery images from medicat worked. Then later trying the fedora image worked. I also reseated ram and ssd, unplugging everything and trying different monitors, etc. before trying anything else.
Everything seems fine now, I just need to install all of my applications again.
I’ll tell ya wut
PriorityMotif@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's a sci-fi thing you feel is achievable with our current level of technology that you'd love to see become a thing?2·2 months agoTotally possible with homeassistant. They also make temperature controlled “smart” beds.
PriorityMotif@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's a sci-fi thing you feel is achievable with our current level of technology that you'd love to see become a thing?2·2 months agoI just wake up a few minutes before my alarm due to my internal clock. Doesn’t matter what time I go to bed.
I created. [email protected] to discuss selling on various platforms. I just flipped a PC I built yesterday for a $60 profit.
I installed an external antenna for mine pointed directly at the nearest cell tower and it’s fine with multiple streams going. Before I did that it wasn’t very good. The annoying part is that there’s no access to settings in the router. I’m considering going to fiber for an extra $30/mo just because of the router issue.
