This is crazy, I just woke up and I remembered I drunkenly installed a game yesterday but couldn’t for the life of me remember what the game was. I opened my lemmy app and see this close to the top and remembered it was dying light: the beast. I finished the second one a couple of months ago and wanted to take a small break before diving into the new one, while also letting some more patches be released.

I’m currently playing Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 too but I’m unsure if it’s for me. I see why it’s so loved but I’m not at all good with tight timing stuff and I feel the exploration is a bit lackluster.

  • This applies to so much. It’s almost always people who have never experienced anything truly hard, no matter if it’s the same category, who do the “omg, that’s so me” thing. Experience of that leads to empathy, sympathy and understanding that someone else’s struggles with something that has never been hard for you can be the main thing that makes their lives difficult.
That’s not an exclusive thing, of course, some people understand that even though they have never had issues on the same level, and some people have had stuff that’s affected them and their lives more bit still don’t get that. But my experience is that those are outlier more than the norm.

It definitely blows inhibitions and also makes do you dumb stuff, but nothing close to this level. I’ve done 8-balls in one night and have done dumb stuff I wouldn’t have done without it, same as doing dumb stuff on alcohol and even weed. But this is so far removed from that, he’d have to have absolutely no idea about the dangers and I really think there must have been someone else who persuaded him in bad faith.

  • This brought up a memory:
I was with my then girlfriend at a gynecologist as she was getting a UID put in. I sit in the waiting room just browsing my phone and out of nowhere I hear screaming and stuff getting thrown around. I couldn’t make out exactly where it came from so I of course got worried it might be my girlfriend (not that I had a reason to think it was her out of anyone else), but it’s obviously not like I could just go and open doors to look. After about a minute of hearing this, so much stuff thrown and broken, a girl comes out of a room bright red with anger and as she walks by me, who’s the only one in the waiting room, she says “I came here for things completely unrelated to my period and the doctor fucking asks about my fucking period like that’s everything women are, periods!” I really didn’t know how to respond so I just go “yeah, fuck 'em.” and she just looked at me with an oddly angry smirk then walked out.

  • The tram I was on with my dad and little sister struck a woman, she had an umbrella open so she didn’t see the tram (it was a sunny summer day). It cracked her head open and I’ll never forget that sound. The driver panicked and only opened the front door of the tram, right where the woman was laying on the ground, so we were forced to walk out of the tram and jump over the pool of blood gushing from her head. My dad tried to make us not look but I saw the hole in her head, and her brain. I was 10 and my sister 8.
She died on the way to the hospital.
And I just realised I now live in the apartment building right by the tram tracks where it happened, haven’t thought about that memory for a long time.

Nice! Will probably mostly lurk and post some recipes and stuff, really battling my social anxiety so might take a while until I show up. And if I do post something please don’t take the very possible lack of response to replies as conscious ignoring, that just happens a lot due to the anxiety and executive disfunction. Always hope and try for better though, got lots of articles, memes, recipes (as said) etc. saved that I think would be appreciated.

Thanks for making the group, see ya there!
