It’s amazing what people have made in Roblox with that language.
Hey, it’s supposed to be acting like a programmer. Maybe copilot really is one of us 🤔
This feels like a joke Hank Hill would make
Yeah, this is assuming that Sync becomes a paid app. It would require money to keep it from being overwhelmed, but a lot of Sync’s best ideas would benefit a lot from its own instance.
I think it would also better justify paying for the app, since a lot of the other popular apps right now are open source projects. Monetizing Lemmy apps just seems harder than Reddit, it doesn’t seem like there’s much you can realistically charge for other than development, and all the competition is developing for free. I’m okay with paying for development, but there aren’t ads to take away anymore. It doesn’t seem like there’s a way to actually upgrade someone’s Lemmy service with money without hosting. I’m totally okay with paying for Sync even without this, however I don’t know if other people would be willing enough to make Sync’s development financially sustainable for our favorite dev.
Gotta say as a long time sync user, I just downloaded Connect to try and it’s really good! Feels somewhere between Sync and Boost
This was something I did in school to fuck with the teacher. He said all he cared about was output so as long as the code all worked, we could make it as stupid as we want. He taught us really good basics though. Really encouraged us to learn more about coding ourselves so that we could make the next best shitpost for the class. My favorite was creating stupid arithmetic functions. What the fuck is i++? I only know the function increaseIByOne
I mean most languages are fully capable of everything you need to do and it’s just a skill issue. People do crazy shit with scratch somehow
Humans just like feeling like they’re better than another human, deleting someone else’s code is loudly saying that you’re better than them in some metric. Nothing wrong with it, but that’s why writing code feels less powerful than yeeting other people’s shit.
I always feel awkward saying hash cause the weed stuff
Deez nuts
When other people do it though? They’re total frauds that don’t know how to code. I’m the only person in the world allowed to copy things off Stack Overflow. Sorry sweaty, I don’t make the rules.
Damn, maybe we really are replaceable if that’s it 😢
I tell my friends that making software is like making M16s. You send them out of the factory, thinking you’ve designed the perfect gun, I mean how the hell do you use a gun wrong? Until you find out that a few people tried to use that top part to shoot arrows like a bow. What’s even worse about software is sometimes they actually figure out how to use it as a bow and idiots start using M16s as bows and now you have to fix that because it’s a horrible fucking bow.
Project reality was an absolute failure. Why my parents didn’t pick project abortion instead I’ll never know
Also, don’t know how this would work, but it seems like the best route is going to be making a sync instance or teaming up with another well federated instance. If you could just download Sync and use Lemmy with a quick sign up with no thoughts about what instance you use, it would be amazing. Could change instances obviously, but I think it’s the best way to get good user experience.
I’ll download Sync for Lemmy the second it’s available. I use liftoff right now and it’s better than using Lemmy raw, but it doesn’t match the cleanliness of Sync. Genuinely believe that third party devs like LJD are going to be the saviors of this platform. Sync has always been great and ahead of the curve. Ready to have it as my normal app again.
Liftoff is the best I’ve found so far. Waiting for Sync to come though
Tfw all the coding you know is from PLTW classes
