Long distance relationship is something I will never recommend to anyone unless you can either afford to meet-up regularly without it putting a strain on you financially, you are okay with heart break (no one I’ve met has been), or you met, matched and spent time irl before it becomes long distance.

My personal advice based on your post alone: don’t do it (but be nice about it).

Long distance was the worst emotional rollercoaster I’ve been through, and this is coming from someone who had a “successful long distance story” and are still together since moving in together.

But I know that that’s not how our hearts work, so hoping you’ll get that job soon and save up enough for a visit!

I’m not quite that organized,

I’ve donated around 2 euros to huge projects like Wikipedia when they have a donation campaign, or 20 euros to projects like draw.io when I notice on github that they haven’t met their monthly goal yet.

The amount and frequency completely depends on my financial situation at the time and I only donate when I am using a piece of software/project (so when I remember, basically) on my free time and decide to check updates/state of the project.

So I’m not a frequent donor to any specific projects and several months may pass without donating any money, but when I have a bit more disposable income and when I’m doing free-time computer related hobbies I take a sum (lets say 50e) and distribute that money depending on project size. Smaller projects get more (less likely to have a lot of donors) big projects less (hopefully they have a lot of people donating small amounts that add up).

+1 for voyager. I like other apps too but voyager has felt like a fresh breeze.

but please consider not doing safety and security related stuff without properly researching first and probably should not deal with such things if you are uncertain and can’t find anyone with expertise to help you out. Anything from blowing up shit in your own backyard to creating an online application that deals with user data

Edit: not saying don’t ever do those things, everyone has the right to learn things, but so many fingers have been lost and so much personal data has been leaked due to not stopping for a moment to think in the heat of passion and excitement (or frustration).

Sadly I don’t know any other great python content creators which go beyond basics. I started my whole programming career with Chuck Severance’s PY4E python videos (he is also awesome content creator) and he does have some videos that teach other stuff beyond the basics of Python: Django, PostgreSQL and Web applications, but that’s it as far as I remember. Ahh sorry now I get it, settings inside posts! I have to admit I have no idea how those work, I suspected that the language options you have inside a post are community specific settings that mods of a community control, or maybe they only offer undetermined and the language the post was made with? Hope someone who knows gives an answer!

Sorry not sure if I’m understanding your comment, but you already can multi select languages, the way I stated in the comment above: in the web UI go to your profile settings and hold CTRL to select another language you wish to see. You can choose as many languages as you want while holding CTRL.
