  • That entire site is toxic as all hell.

How many people have been banned from one sub because they posted in another sub? It happened to me, and I’ve heard it happening to a few others. It wasn’t even anything bad or offensive or controversial. It was literally just the fact that I posted in one sub, made the mods in another sub think they could ban me in this other sub. WTF? And of course there is zero recourse with those clowns.

  • Is that device out of production? They might be counting on limited availability to jack up prices.

Is that product not available in all markets? They might be counting on someone in Sweden, who might not be able to buy that device is willing to pay a premium.

Was there a recent price drop? Maybe this is listed in the product’s old peice amd they are slow to drop it.

I wonder if it it just straight up money laundering.

  • All they are doing is shifting the responsibility and liability into you.

They want to control the discussion about R2R. Rather than having pro-consumer groups set the rules, they rather have their influence dictate the rules to R2R from the inside. They know that participating in the process both makes them look good, but also let’s them control the discussion.

They want you using authorized Apple parts using authorized Apple tools and installing authorized Apple software. But using your labor to do it. Probably one of the biggest bottlenecks in the phone repair chain is the labor to open up and repair the phone. So for Apple it is a win-win to off-load that manual labor onto the user. If they fuck up the phone, then it is a win for Apple because that person now needs a new phone. If the repair goes successfully, it is still a win for Apple because the user is still locked into their ecosystem and they just bought some highly marked-up parts and didn’t give more work to their probably overloaded repair supply chain.

  • I really think that can be said for a lot of shows. First few episodes, and sometimes the first few seasons don’t hit like the later ones. Simpsons, Seinfeld, TNG, Arrested Development and a lot of other shows were constantly on the cusp of getting canceled until they got their audience and the writers hit their stride with the story.

It happens so much to shows that we know ended up turning out good, that it always makes me wonder how many shows were canceled a few episodes or maybe a season or two sooner than they should have.
