An unsurprising decision but still horribly disappointing.
I do a lot of photography and I share it on my deviant art page.

My 2am goblin mode basically means the sandwich ain’t getting made
I’m just going to shovel some cheese in my mouth, eat a slice of bread, and drink some water.
Or better eat leftovers right out of the fridge
Edit: Cold pizza just hits different at 2am
Super relevant, thank you for sharing
I freaking love Calvin and Hobbes
English is stupid
As a native English speaker I have to agree
Though going through the vocabulary thoroughly can lead to tough and interesting things
Like nouns as verbs, that shit’s fire
Might be a controversial take but I don’t mind them blocking unverified flatpaks by default, what I do mind is that when enabled they don’t show the rating and reviews for said flatpaks.
I’m not sure if that was addressed in this latest version but that’s they way it was not too long ago
Specific instances are hard to find which is usually why I flex the block tool a lot around here. Blocking them when they start spewing their bullshit.
I can’t think of any off the top of my head but I’d check the federated list of instances for some of the instances you see with large queer communities (like the one I’m posting from now) to get a general idea as us queer folk get hella targeted by conservatives online.
It’s pretty chill in general and is well moderated
It’s has the occasional instability day here and there but it gets sorted out pretty quick
They don’t federate down votes and you can’t give them out which IMO isn’t the best
But I’d say it’s a nice place overall
Sounds like you picked the wrong instance for an alt account
I’d say if you pick one that isn’t federated with Hexbear, some specific domains ending in .ml, and some of the other conservative ones you’ll have a far better time around the fediverse.
Also don’t be afraid to block people
Because of it being so closed off I’ve hopped instances
And honestly I’m probably going to hop again because having down votes disabled isn’t very good IMO
Edit: 1 big thing though that I wish existed Lemmy wide would be if you have a comment or post removed (hell even bans) you get a message to your inbox. As it currently stands it just happens and unless you check mod logs you’ll never know.
Bummer
I’ve got to agree with you on that one
I finally removed all my subs from over there
Couldn’t take it anymore
“Don’t say a word and he won’t find us. We need to cut through the arcade to get to the door. I can’t eat anymore of his pizza.”
In some regions in my world there’s a distinct amount of racism so some places have outlawed different people to different degrees.
For example one city outlawed Goblinoids within their city limits. Another nearby city had a curfew for Goblinoids vs outright banning their presence within their city limits.
There’s quite a a bit that can be said about quite a bit by what restrictions exist in your world and the hardships people can face.
If it works it works
It does everything she needs so she keeps on using it
Plus she got her rig from me as a gift a number of years ago
Especially stuff that’s really important
Edit: or is that just me? Though it has gotten easier since getting a diagnosis and developing strategies to deal with my ADHD.
I installed Linux Mint on my Mom’s and Grandma’s PCs as it’s one I use for most of mine. They took to it like a duck to water.
My Mom has a little bit of growing into it as she plays a lot of videogames (literally more than I do lol) but it’s been smooth sailing.
My Grandma primarily does stuff in her browser so for her it was more of a new skin for her PC.
My Mom is running a system with a R5 1600 and a RX 580 and my Grandma is running a Intel Broadwell CPU (I can’t remember which kind with integrated graphics.
To get my Grandma into Linux required some prep before hand teaching her about doing all of her office stuff in her browser because she was rude or die on Microsoft Office. Now she’s ride or die for Google’s office suite (not perfect but primarily painless for me).
For my Mom it was pretty simple after she started getting pop-ups to upgrade to Windows 11 and then being told her system doesn’t support it. Also her finding out that Windows 10 was going EoL in 2025 really helped.
Lychee Slicer (slicer used for resin printing) is usually pretty good but sometimes it’ll still fail
Which basically means I’d have 2 choices, go in there manually with Blender or fire up Windows 3D Builder and let it work it’s magic
I haven’t fully given up on trying to find a way to get it to work on Linux but I’ve had to take a break from trying purely due to frustration
I didn’t know about the 16-bit support, which is really cool to say the least
I see myself as still somewhat of a noob to Linux
And sometimes the Windows only software is more “Windows only” and works with Wine
Windows 3D Builder though is firmly in the Windows Only category though. Which is a bummer because in my experience it’s the best at repairing 3D models for 3D printing that have errors like holes, redundant geometry, inverted faces, etc.
The name definitely needs work
