So I went to bitly’s website to see if I could find anymore info here. It looks like most of bitly’s paying customers are businesses that generate QR codes and links that can use custom domains. Since these businesses are already paying customers, anyone using those accounts shouldn’t see ads, but those businesses’ customers probably will! Maybe I’m missing something, but it seems like bitly will inject ads into their customers’ customers screens. If I was one of these business owners I would be pissed lol.

I’ve no doubt most if not all Lemmy users will never buy into a paid bitly subscription. But does anyone here at least know of someone who does, or has a similar subscription? Who would need that? Is bitly so essential to some people that they would pay for an ad free experience? I’m not programmer but I had an interest in it once. Building a URL shortener is one of the most basic programs beginners can get into. There must be hundreds of services for shortening URLs. I know that’s a lot of questions but I find this so intriguing.

I have not been tested for ADHD but also have no reason to think I have it. I’m pretty sure anyone who is being distracted from the content of what they are reading has experienced what the OP is saying. I can’t imagine why anyone would think this is strictly an ADHD thing. My coworker on the other hand has ADHD and he can read/listen to audio books without being distracted in a situation where I would be. Maybe everyone is just different.

Is this also not a good reason to not set up auto pay in the case of data breaches? Sure it may not be connected to your lemmy account, but does no other personal info about you link to that data?

Walking Dead season 3 was weird because Clementine went from being a sweet and timid kid to being a shoot first ask question later, fuck everybody kind of person. She’s very hostile to the player character in 3. You don’t see any transformation as to why her personality changed so much. I kind of get it, she’s growing up into a teenager in a post apocalyptic zombie infested world. But then you start the 4th game and she’s much closer to who she was in the first 2 games. It’s hard to imagine anything she did in the 3rd game as being canon

I agree with you there. I’ve personally found it very interesting to try new programs and figure out each one’s layout and work flow, but I’ve found many people absolutely hate doing that. I get it, if you want to just use the product for what it’s intended for maybe you don’t want to waste time learning the differences. All of that in consideration, I don’t think gimp is that bad

It used to be way worse. I first tried gimp 10ish years ago and instead of the program running from a single window it was like the canvas, the hierarchy tree, and every other toolbox had its own separate window. I think they updated that a while ago now.

I’m in a class right now that requires a DMR locked live service textbook. I can only access it as long as I am connected to the internet. I live where 2 back to back hurricanes just hit so I expected to not have power or internet and wanted to copy some of the text from the textbook into a txt file. However, the DRM detects the copy/paste usage and limits the ability to only copy like 100 words. After a quick search I found out the dumb-asses that created this textbook site put all of the text in <p> tags in the plain html doc.

I was going to recommend the movie this is from, “Animals are Beautiful People”! It’s an older Disney produced documentary from the 70s I think. They put a comedic twist on the narraration and add plenty of cartoon sound affects throughout the film
