  • North Texas:

Cold Season: A pair of jeans, a metal band thsirt, and a hoody. I’ll probably wear the hoody as “outerwear” all week.

Hot Season: A pair of black cargo shorts, a metal band thshirt, and depending on activity - a hat.

At my current job, replace the metal band tshirt with a polo. Jeans always. And work is fucking cold, so usually a hoody too, even when its 100+ outside during the day (I work nights)

Edit: I will say my, “I’m staying home, not answering the door, and fuck everyone but my wife” outfit is my birthday suit.

I’m not a nudist, but I find comfort at home to be nude. It isn’t sexual, its just… free.

Now I’m thinking of some wide spread agent like pollen being laced with naturally occurring psychedelics.

I mean, pollen, as an allergen is often taken in through the nose, which is a great route of administration to affect the brain quickly.

Oh the rag weed count is high? Get ready to trip balls people, lol.

Cut myself with a microscope slide. Didn’t realize the lens would drop far enough to break it. Whoops. Ended up nicking my finger getting the slide off.

My proudest science lab injury though, was with a plastic butter knife. Don’t ask me how I managed, but I did. It was an ugly cut too.

  • From a long time nicotine user, I’ll address your bullet points.

Intense: A combination of no tolerance with being sensitive to it.

How do people enjoy: You’re sensitive to it, what you described sounds like a case of nicotine poisoning. When I started vaping and rolled my own coils and all that jazz, I experimented a lot and consumed way too much nicotine in the beginning. The happiness is a lie, as well as the help with anxiety. Nicotine withdrawal feels very similar to being anxious at some stages. It is relief of those withdrawal symptoms that people associate with less anxiety or even happiness.

Are the symptoms related: I could not tell you that.

Addicted: Unlikely you’d be addicted after a single use case, that being said, it feels awful, but the awful tapers after about 3 days - the future cravings mean you’re addicted, in the most tell tale way. I use nicotine pouches as I’ve moved away from smoking. I still want a good old fashioned Marlboro Red, AKA cowboy killers.

Why do people want to keep it up? Often its a situational thing. You smoke with friends on the weekend, but not during the week. Then its daily, because you start feeling withdrawal. Soon you’re smoking a pack a day ten years later kicking yourself for ever trying it.

If you (or anyone else) can avoid nicotine, I advise it wholeheartedly. The simplest way is just not to start, cliched as that may be.

Pretty sure checking a post on their site, say for a BG3 build idea, doesn’t constitute abuse.

The powers that be sacrificed their only value, their user base, to make money quick. We’ll see how it plays out long term, but I’ve moved away from social media. My lemmy use is only on my desktop at this point, and I get precious little time at it, so most of it isn’t spent on lemmy.

  • I wish I had that option in a previous campaign.

We even had a rule set, if your character dies, you can reroll a new character. Same level. Gearing would be similar (in power, not the same gear).

I hated my character. Mechanically I just did NOT enjoy playing them.

Being a mentally ill character (GOO warlock, Cthulhuesque patron of madness, part of the pact) I turned to depression, fool hardy risks, etc. The DM just would NOT let that character die.

I just wanted to play a character that better fit the party and campaign. Having a “Face” character in a campaign with a stupid barbarian (both player and int score) that solved every problem with a great axe, and if there wasn’t a problem created one, was useless.

Got stopped by guards at the gate of a new town? Instead of just talking for 30 seconds, the party wound up jailed and forced into trial by combat. It didn’t end well. Then I (the host for every session, but not DM) changed jobs and schedules and no one else would host so it died.

  • Social engineering, arguably, is one of the harder things to learn.

It’s a collection of soft skills, and if you’ve been paying attention to rank and file tech jobs, places are looking for people with soft skills because they’re so impractical to train.

This goes down to your basic help desk tech.

Anyone with an interest in computers can sit down and learn how to analyze and exploit weakness in code. In fact, it’s a fun puzzle. Dealing with other people, let alone establishing oneself as another person and fucking SELLING that character enough to get what you need?

People write off social engineering far too quickly. It’s quick, it’s effective, and if done well, the person you exploited doesn’t even realize they’ve been tricked.
