When only 2 parties take turns ruling the country, the checks and balances don’t really work well when stressed. Because the party that needs to be checked, control half the apparatus, and can disrupt large parts of the other half.

Countries with maybe 10+ parties in parlament like many European countries have, will never have a single party with control of half the apparatus responsible for the checks and balances.

This is a huge reason first past the post is bad for democracy, apart from also not representing the population as fairly as is possible with numerous parties of influence.

This problem permeates throughout the entirety of the system, including the judicial, where judges belong to one or the other party, enabling an imbalance with total control for one party in for instance the supreme court.
With a multi party system, a single party would NOT be able to take control in the way we have seen happen in USA, which obviously shouldn’t be possible, and also doesn’t help to prevent corruption.

OK a stretch can also be a distance like: “a stretch of road.” I suppose that somewhat ties it together.
We actually have the equivalent of stretch of road and to stretch something being similar words, but we would never say stretching a lead.

No it’s stupid because stretching something generally means by using less like stretching resources by using less, or stretching a band by pulling it making it thinner.
That’s why it’s stupid because it contains none of the original meaning.
I can figure out in sports it probably comes from stretching out (muscles), like giving it a bit of extra effort. But the headline doesn’t work in that context either.

So in short, it’s a stupid use that is erroneously used out of the original context and meaning where it had a common denominator that made sense.

Now if only they’d make a quality durable synthetic back instead of the glass garbage, that is the main reason for requiring a case, I might have bought it.
It’s very attractive IMO, Dimensity 9300+ is crazy fast, the screen is top tier, it has lots of storage and the Cameras are probably best in class.
The main point why I like the 13T/14T is the flat front screen, I hate curved screens, it reminds me of CRT monitors, and it’s bad for reflexes and erroneous input.

My 2 biggest beefs with modern high end phones are curved screens, and glass backs. It’s worse than no mini jack and SD slot IMO.
