  • 274 justifiable homicides involving a private citizen using a firearm

Ok, and how many defensive uses of a firearm occurred that year where the defender did not kill the attacker? Cases where the attacker was merely injured, or the defender missed, or the attacker ran off at the sight of the firearm? Why are those entirely omitted, does it only count as self defense if the attacker dies, not if one successfully stops the attack without a justifiable homicide?

And while we’re at it, how many justifiable homicides occurred that year with your defensive weapon of choice, The Hammer? If the metric used to determine a weapon’s viability for defense is simply justifiable homicides/yr, blind bet: it’s less than 274.

    Btw

only 1.1 percent of victims of attempted or completed violent crimes used a firearm,

While around 45% of people own a gun, only 21% of people carry a gun ever, and even less carry everywhere always, and this figure doesn’t take into account whether or not the victims had a gun on them with which to defend themselves. This stat is entirely meaningless without controling for that.

and only 0.3 percent of victims of attempted or completed property crimes used a firearm.

Well that’s illegal unless you’re in Texas at night, so, unless that’s all they’re counting this makes me further question the voracity of the study. You’re telling me that 0.3 percent of people in the study successfully justifiably killed someone for something that is illegal to kill people for? That’s not how this works lol.

  • I like one category of reality tv and even then only a small subsection of them: Game Shows. The subsection in particular seems to be Japanese game shows subbed in English, the only ones I know so far tbh are Sasuke and Takeshi’s Castle. As to why, Sasuke is just cool and Makoto Nagano rules, plus it’s fun with the silly competitors. Takeshi’s Castle is just plain hilarious. Conversely I hate basically all american versions, American Ninja Warrior was ass and Wipeout was too, yet both were just stolen rebrandings of their Japanese counterparts with all the whimsy and fun sucked out.

And I’m mainly posting this to solicit recommendations for more Japanese game shows like that which I can pirate.

  • Tbf, every time I’ve choked a girl during sex it’s because they directly asked me using their words of their own volition (I never brought it up like asking her can I do it or anything), and I asked “are you sure” and they double down on the consent, and typically they’ll use their hand to press my hand harder into their neck because I’m scared to go too hard. And also I’ve never domestically abused anyone (been the victim of emotional abuse though, not physical, unless you count using emotional abuse to force me to have sex physical then I guess I have been but idk.)

Point is: there are women who are into that. Seemingly a lot, actually. It’s not necessarily a red flag against me that I’m willing to please my partner (so long as there’s some mutual trust, I have said no before too when it was a first time with a hook up, for instance.)

  • Same, sort of. For me it varies, some is supposed to be a status symbol and that I find lame.

But some are signals about a person; Bass Pro, fisherman; Backwoods, down to smoke; Burton, snowboarder; Venture, skateboarder; etc. These I see more as a band shirt, like “hey I like that thing/band too, wanna hang out?” These I actually like, they can be informative.

And some are just free shirts from work itself, vendors to your work, events, etc. Maybe they just got off and are still in “uniform” (if you can call a company t-shirt a uniform lmao), maybe their job sells a lot of Kawasaki and they sent shirts to the dealership they work at, this falls more into the informative category and indicate possible hobbies. Same with the event shirts, it’s more about a memory of the event, it indicates possible hobbies like running or biking, and hell a free shirt is a free shirt.

Hell even the status symbol shirts, I guess do the same thing in signaling something about a person, but imo it signals that

you’re vacuous and live your life for the image you have for others instead of focusing on yourself.

  • Tbf, .223 and 5.56 are both .22 caliber rounds, as is .22lr, .22 short, .22 mag, 5.7x28, .22 nosler, .22-250, .224 valkyrie, .223 Wylde, etc.

Calibre (in this case .22) describes the bore diameter in inches (in this case .22 of an inch) or 5.6mm in metric.

Also 5.56 has higher pressures and a slightly different case (but it’ll fit) than .223, they’re not technically the same thing, though you can shoot .223 out of a 5.56 chamber. Not recommended to shoot 5.56 out of a .223, but tbh in most modern guns you’ll prob be fine (can’t sue me if your shit blows up.)

  • I mostly agree with this, but apparently Leto is a giant worm was raping or assaulting people or something. While I do think “cancel culture” or whatever is dumb and believe separating art from the artists is an ok thing to do as a consumer, blacklisting someone from the industry for rape/SA is just about the only time I’m in full agreeance with “canceling.” Can’t be having that type of shit, idec if a Trump supporting actor gets work tbh but assault is a step too far. Liking things he was in prior is one thing, continuing to make workplaces unsafe by employing him is another.

As for consumers, I think they should be free to watch what they want and boycott what they want with impunity and no judgement (besides maybe taste lol), especially if they pirate. Still liking a thing you grew up loving even after something shady comes out does not mean you support the shady thing, especially if you’re not literally supporting them monetarily.

(I also fucking hate Thirty Suckents to Mars and he should be punished for making bad music.)

TC afaik isn’t dangerous in the same sense, he’s just a face of a cult. Miscavige is the really dangerous one there and he should probably be shot, but TC just makes cheesy movies and has sex with fish. As such I don’t think there’d be a problem employing him the same as it is for Leto, but also I’m personally not watching his garbage, whether you do or not should be left to you (and I won’t judge, other than maybe your taste in movies! Lol)
