Maybe for the way in which they are layering them, but I’m pretty sure the reasoning behind it is inspired by content that has been made into comics for quite some time, for example

While this might seem unusual or unexpected, this is common practice in the case of giraffes raised in captivity.
Two of the eels are the arms and two are the legs. Together they harmonize the oooo’s and form the torso.
Don’t overthink the fingers, that’s artistic license of the comic artist.
I will never not upvote this. I can’t even remember the actual words to the last line anymore, it’s been “I am several fish and not a guy” to me for a decade, and I don’t mind not looking it up to remember what the real words are. I prefer this version.
4·1 year agoIf I remember correctly about this incident, it wasn’t only that the school was warned about the child’s behavior from previous incidents and from earlier that day and it had been ignored, as you have already received a comment about, but I believe the mother also called the school to tell them her gun was missing and she believed the child had it and they didn’t do a thorough enough search for it - I believe they only looked in his backpack and not in his desk or jacket, etc.

Seriously. I read this and all I could think was “what a dick”.
Disclaimer, I have not read the full source material and am only basing this off the quoted image.
I fully understand not being interested in having to attract your own funding, it’s awful. But the rest of it is not limited to the academic or scientific pursuits. Being a decent enough person so people want to support you? Developing good work that people want to hear about it (ie conferences)? (By the way, you submit your own work to conferences and they are judged to be invited blindly, ie names removed), being able to hold your tongue when you know someone is wrong in order to keep peace? Understanding that hierarchy exists?
These are not things that are antithesis to good science, and if no one had ever taught her these things that’s a failing on her younger days.
